for me it's about the way that i'm very vulnerable to temptation, drugs especially are a big problem for me and out in the country that's all a bit easier to deal with... i'm even now finally cutting back on alcohol and already starting to feel physically and mentally better

i could not do this with the drinks shop 10 minutes walk away... it was only due to developing prediabetic symptoms from energy drinks that i finally stopped that one as well, i can see myself becoming fully abstinent from all but a glass of wine a day in the future, it just takes time and a bit of rest, and i really am, during this little holiday i'm having, starting to realise i need to segregate my days and not feel like i'm always behind on my work

nice thing about notedeck is that you can leave it open for days on your desktop and let it collect notes. This is where local algos really shine: it can summarize interesting things you’ve missed since you last scrolled. all done locally without needing external providers like dvms or custom relays.

When I come back to notedeck I see that the spot I was last at was 14 hours ago, there are thousands of notes above that. I would love a local algo to highlight new notes I might find interesting in that set.

This was definitely an accident 😂, but maybe #nostr should adopt this form of simple honoring of profiles you enjoy.

tomorrow morning I set out on a personal misogi.

3 days, 4 mountain lakes, ~30 miles of hiking at high altitude. bringing 1 rucksack and 1 dog.

the fun and challenge of the misogi is it needs to be a particularly difficult physical/mental/spiritual challenge that you are not well prepared for and you will very possibly fail.

I assign a 50% probability of making it to all the lakes and completing the loop. While generally in shape & hiking 3-5 miles regularly with no bagweight, I haven’t had to find water sources or set up camp and carry a bag solo for this distance before.

while deep in bear & mountain lion country, and near freezing in the evenings, with unpredictable weather up there, it’s sure to be uncomfortable. I’m reading parts of the trail are snowed out and I’m excited to have improvise solutions and problem solve to get me and the pup safely through the weekend.
