There are good and long standing algorithms used in Ethernet - when more than one writer is trying to write to the bus at the same time a clash occurs. Both writers backoff for a small random time. The backoff increases in time after each successive clash (up to a limit).
Maybe it’s the relay that can be responsible for having an optional “heartbeat”. It’s used all the time in device networks. Relay sends to other relays a signal when it comes back online, so a client sees when it’s active again when communicating with an up relay.
So very sad that we are so quickly trending from 1st world to 3rd world economy.
I'm excited to be joining this decentralised community. nostr:npub1s05p3ha7en49dv8429tkk07nnfa9pcwczkf5x5qrdraqshxdje9sq6eyhe recommended I made it my home. Here is a substack I wrote about being a guest on a podcast in Zurich with Jeff, my career in finance and epiphanies on inflation and BTC (its ultimately a spiritual thing).
Bravo
True now more than ever.
Your efforts and voice are a real breath of fresh air. Keep it up.
Adds Privacy.
Yep, this is true. I have been writing code for 25 years, and had to learn the Austrian Economics part from books and hours and hours of pods. I now see the world much more clearly now because Bitcoin taught me. Am very thankful and humble to it and everyone who made books and pods.
Love it, protocols up and down the stack!
Nice pod by nostr:npub1r8l06leee9kjlam0slmky7h8j9zme9ca32erypgqtyu6t2gnhshs3jx5dk with nostr:npub1uaj9phu5lpxpczm3vaayt46m0yv0pduxzy7z6quwd2uggxue7fmqx9665u regarding SilentPayments.
Really inspiring to see the rise of privacy.
nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft new bluge-powered search-only eventstore backend for Khatru just dropped: https://github.com/fiatjaf/eventstore/tree/master/bluge
There is no README, no docs. I'll deploy it to custom.fiatjaf.com soon and see if it works and then I'll write that. In my local tests it was good. Not 100% accuracy, but very fast.
The idea is that for queries without "search" you go to the normal backend, for queries with "search" you only use this. And it doesn't store the events twice, only the indexes. The events are fetched from the other database backend based on id results from the search.
You’ll need to add a LLM for search relevance going forward.
Don’t constrain your ideas to what you know…
Nutshell!
Hopefully soon feature complete after which we're going to rewrite it all in Rust using @thesimplekid's CDK.
Before you commit to rust, consider using Zig.
Total cost will be less over time. And simple binaries rule.
I am not an expert but would be happy to help build it. (Have 30 years in IT as software and systems engineer).
The best marketing is to build a better product!
Or people run their own mints for their family and have a networked LN host connect. Let the free market decide …
Still working on figuring out the #cashu protocol and npub.cash Here's what I've got...
http://nostrwiki.crrdlx.infinityfreeapp.com/doku.php?id=wiki:cashu-and-ecash
And also: https://sbc-v7.on.fleek.co/pages/grow.html
#cashu #bitcoin
The nuance you are missing about #cashu is that the mints make a token of ownership that can sit on any protocol- e.g. liquid bitcoin. Liquid federation has different trade offs to Lightning.
