After using it for 30 minutes, I have a hard time imagining FB or IG users will use threads religiously if at all. I'm more bullish on Bluesky than Threads. Threads certainly won't usurp Twitter as the default public square for thought.
Okay, but is Amethyst actually usable for you on Android? I get that Nostr is a beautiful idea and everything, but I feel like its most diehard advocates won't even acknowledge the usability issues that still persist. For instance, I can't get notifications with Amethyst. Also, if I open it on mobile, it uses obscene amounts of data. It's very clunky navigating to a photo on my device to upload. On GrapheneOS, misspelling a word will somehow cause the misspelled word to conjoin with the previous word, so I have to move the cursor back and press space to separate them again (drives me absolutely bananas). I can't find people easily here, even people I follow (e.g., I follow Lyn Alden, but I can't simply search her name and pull up her account). There isn't any list functionality as far as I'm aware, and there's no algorithm to help you discover additional accounts outside your follow list or discover important posts you might have missed. Finally, I might relatively retarded compared to the programmers here, but I'm at least sophisticated enough to run several bitcoin nodes. If I'm having usability problems here, there's no point in introducing normies to Nostr yet.
