Even if it is fixable on client level...consodering nostr can go cross client something a user could control themselves to retrive follows on any client would be awesome! Would suck to lose follows everytime a new interesting client came out that you wanted to check out.

I agree. One can do both! I do believe that zaps/nostr present an opportunity to proliferate the use of personal lightning nodes in p2p interactions and transactions, which is my hope for how the lightning network develops.

If ur entire interaction with using bitcoin involves custodial services from the fiat bank --> to exchange -- > custodial lightning service... How much are you really doing to change money yourself ? Start putting in the work to own your transmission stack, use your own node for on chain, use your own lightning node for zaps. Start doing the work to walk the walk! 😅 tools and people are out there to make this easier than you think!

A ban would definitely stop your coinbases and your strikes from buying and selling bitcoin. But your p2p markets...such as your robosats, your bisqs...government would need to get their hands pretty dirty to shut those down ( if they could at all...i doubt it). And p2p wouldnt skip a beat.
