Alaskan. Electrical enginerd. Hunter, fisherman, gardener. Ham radio operator.

Pro tip: If you install a lift kit and big enough tires, you can look cool and your odometer will read 10% lower than you actual mileage. Win-win.

Fall is in the air, so today I am burning some diesel to move firewood down to the house.

I really enjoy cutting and burninwood, but I hate handling and stacking it multiple times, so I starting using a system of totes.

They are cheap and easy to build. Take a pallet, sawzall it half, attach the two halves with four 4' 2X4's and cross brace three sides with scrap lumber. Using an air nailer I can complete one in under 15 minutes. The key to success is using ring shank nails and traditional stringer pallets. The four-way, block/deck pallets don't hold nails well.

They hold an 1/8 of a cord. That's about all the weight my 25hp tractor can handle off road. My work flow is to drop a tree; limb, buck and split it where it falls; stack it into totes; tractor it to a sunny spot to season; then tractor it to the house and burn it.

That's awesome. How many hives do you have? Do you over winter your bees or kill them off?

Sockeye salmon fishing season is over, so I took some time today to clean and put away gear. The bag on my larger net had ripped in several places, so I went ahead and replaced it. I have a Pro Apollo brand net with a removable inner ring. It sure made the job easy compared to a traditional net. No tying knots!

Don't let them know that you know. Hold on to that illusion with all your might. As soon as the current administration comes to terms with that reality, they'll shift focus to starting as many dumpster fires as possible for Trump to contend with.
