In the late 90s before the term SEO was widely used I tried explaining to the head of the photo department of a newspaper why the Flash based photo gallery he wanted to use wasn't the best solution. And all he kept saying was, "If it looks better, more people will use it." And try as I might to explain the value of being available to search using metaphors like "yellow pages", I ultimately failed.

Journalists have a skewed view of their importance because maybe they take an existing tech idea and write a popular article about it, and it seems like they "invented" it. And while they certainly help spread the word, it would happen without news organizations, if the internet has taught us anything
On the other hand, the fact that it isn't actually easy to provide a canonical link to an item of interest to a non-nostr user impedes adoption #nostr #protocol
