You and I can be customer facing and customer service. The devs can stay in the basement with magic the gathering and D&D.
Nobody asked u lady
I know š
Hahahaha Iām sorry I couldnāt help it. That was the first thing I heard and I determined you must be reminded
You basically described the premise for the British comedy 'the IT crowd'
Damnit.. EVERYTHINGS BEEN DONE
Top 25 show for real. Just when you think you understand how the show works , bam theres a vampire in a closet
šÆšÆšÆ
Bang on. šÆ
They're also being sucked into speaking at conferences, talking on podcasts, and other things that they should not need to do
The other thing we need is a little patience
The progress made so far is incredible
When I downloaded Damus for the first time I couldn't even upload a profile picture
Aww thatās because you didnāt have someone like my lovely husband to tell you about nostr.build, I get it
Banger! no more heels and makeup for me. I'll hang out in yoga pants and tees now
I almost said, āexcept you nostr:npub18pudjhdhhp2v8gxnkttt00um729nv93tuepjda2jrwn3eua5tf5s80a699 ā
šššš
Amen!
This sounds like you tricked bunch of devs into a one way ticket to your basement and you need fresh blood.
I'm a developer and I was cool in high school, got dates, and one of the best athletes
Stereotypes are funny, not always true.
I thought it was funny that I thought I was cool in high school. Says who?
Bahaha i was technically āpopularā for a bit there, but definitely not cool
Just a fucking poser until I dropped acid and took a good look at myself š
Lmao š¤£
Nobody asked me either, but devs usually have someone telling them what to do- nostrs biggest issue is that the devs just do whatever they want and not what the users tell them to do.
Nahhhh thereās a shitload of freelance developers and they arenāt tasked with marketing
There canāt be a better video to quantify my position as a SaaS marketer š„
Devs arenāt product managers either.
If itās their idea, they can be. Ask nostr:npub18pudjhdhhp2v8gxnkttt00um729nv93tuepjda2jrwn3eua5tf5s80a699
Bitkarrot is an atypical developer you canāt use her as an example.
You think Zuckerberg made Facebook by just writing the code he wanted? He made what the other students wanted, because all he originally wanted to build was for swiping hot or not on his fellow students on facemash.
Yeah, šÆ. I keep telling the devs to build teams and get support staff. The Lone Wolf strategy is ineffective.
We have 3 people on the team that don't do any development.
And thatās amazing. I feel like itās gotta be so annoying for devs to answer the same questions a million times when they could just explain it to one person who can then be delegated with the questions.
A lot of us are always like āwahhhh we canāt code so we canāt contribute unless we are just regularly zapping devsā, but thereās plenty of ways we can be helping to give the devs more time to focus on what they do best.
The basement is cool. Thatās where all the computers are. And the redbulls, with the straws š
Well said. š
Why thank you! I do better with my real voice and facial expressions, kind of thinking out loud š«
LMAO
you can't control anyone else, only yourself
there is no problem, everything is working as it's supposed to
let it be
Yeah, but nobody asked me so itās ok
what a funny belief
please continue
Itās my new motto. If Iām kind of pondering something and wanna share thoughts without a million people popping up and being like, āyouāre wrongā, just say ānobody asked me, butā¦ā first š
the thoughts you are sharing are pushing onto the world, of course it will push back :)
i don't think you're wrong, but it sounds like you want the new space to function like the old space, which feels like going backwards to me. but you didn't ask me for my opinion, i just wanted to give it, as your message didn't resonate with me.
I donāt really want anything except to provide entertainment, which I can already do and I donāt have to be right or wrong to do so. I was in a nostr dev meeting last week listening to a lot of their issues and this was one of the general sentiments expressed.
Iām starting a nostr help desk called GFY
We NEED that.
we need actual people who like helping early nostr to help early nostr.
my solution of telling everyone gfy has downsides
Finally, someone gives a shit.
LET THE DEVS WRITE CODE š£ļø
nostr:note1eyqqsak5sckx6quzepjxr2elp9u30p8kw0q2y08js8wll630a4yquagz6d
I have mixed feelings about this
Gonna go take apart a remote controller to soothe myself now
Nobodyās good at everything š¤Ŗ
Preach! š
This, a thousand times. It doesn't only apply only to #nostr, it applies to many many #opensource projects.
The mountain of drama that could be cut out just by letting devs write code is higher than Mount Everet
Yesss! Thanks for picking up what I put down. Nobody is good at everything. Thereās plenty of us sitting here twiddling our fingers wondering if thereās any way we could possibly contribute without development experience.
This is so cool to read, and sounds like a real opportunity for devs here. That's the flip side I hope - on Facebook etc no user is willing to make anything better because "the company" will deal with anyway, if you like it or not.
Here, things are different. Users monitor the network and build up knowledge, like you do.
How awesome is that š
Unfortunately, I have no viable product. But be assured when the millions roll in with my awesome nostr app, you'll be my head of marketing! š
10,000 percent agreed. Marketing wouldnāt look the same here because itās decentralized and free. We still can implement elements of what has made other companies or services successful/well-known and apply them to our projects without adopting the immoral and centralized natures. The difference is the why. Itās not sharing the project because of expected reimbursement or notoriety. Itās getting the word out, that there are other options out there that solve a lot of bigger problems.
I think you read that more cynical than I meant it š I definitely didn't want to imply that you do what you do for the zaps š¬
but yup, I guess the traditional start-up would have to be very creative to meet their (shareholder) goals on nostr.
I'm not sure if that's an "we are early" or "it can't be done" thing though.
It works to some extent for email, but there it's usually ad-driven or just really good service people want to pay for
Oops no I communicated it wrong. Thatās why I do wayyyyy better with videos. I meant the clients and nostr projects, not me personally. Like when the devs make a note about their new updates and a bunch of us renote it, thatās a form of marketing to me. We want to share things that are useful and solve problems, not because thereās some type of financial or data harvesting incentives.
Whereas the marketing for Google/Facebook have much more nefarious intentions besides āwanting to share something that could be useful or solve a problemā
Hey now not just devs were hanging out in the basement slaying bugbears and dragons, but you are correct⦠the developers shouldnāt have to be the only ones marketing the protocol and the clients⦠I understand why most of them do it⦠they create a program to run on nostr and it might just be them or a few people that designed and built it for free or very little money and they donāt have money to hire someone let alone a group to market their product and answer the āhelp deskā questions and people that donāt feel like they have a stake in any of it because they didnāt build it donāt want to push it for free, so the devs wear all the hats hoping to get to the point where they can hire a team⦠but what the people not willing to do something for free doesnāt get is that we all have a stake⦠a stake in making sure that this beautiful thing that is Nostr does not fail, fall apart and disappear. I love the protocol, it is nice not being the product of some billionaire that is just trying to raise my blood pressure with their fucking algorithm so they can sell more advertising to drug companies, selling my likes to pollsters, or my data to every telemarketing giant that wants to text me at 1AM with some junk mail or suggest what I āneedā everytime I open any app that has advertisements in them⦠I try to be as good an ambassador as I can to this protocol and answer a question if I can, as I think most of the older nostriches should⦠just my 2 cents. #Noshole4President
Yeah our āmarketingā would not at all be the same as our preconceived notion of what āmarketingā is because itās not a ābusinessā, but it is a service that is a solution to a problem experienced by many.
We can all be of more help. Even if youāve only been on nostr for 2 days, you still know more than someone on their first day.
The devs should absolutely share, explain, talk about their projects that they are passionate about, IF thatās what they want.
ā¦but not everyoneās gonna get it at first and not all devs want to waste their time explaining things that they view as simple or obvious or have already explained a million times š
Who wants to be part of the Nostr call centre šš«”
š¤£
I got the answers:
āplease holdā
āSomeone kicked his puppyā
āDoing stuff that doesnāt involve youā
āAre you human? If so, prove it by making mistakes⦠or just donāt fuck up as muchā
āAsk them about their catā
ā nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m doesnāt even reply to his mom, why would he reply to youā
Next call
Lmao 𤣠ššš
You nailed it š¤£š¤£
Right
Profits are a priority⦠:(
Hello my nym is nicnym I am the junior executive COO of the nostr and you nostr:npub1ymt2j3n8tesrlr0yhaheem6yyqmmwrr7actslurw6annls6vnrcslapxnz have just been promoted to chief vice-president director of marketing!
Congratulations š„³
Thereās nooooooo possible way you could regret this! š
Youāre absolutely right. The marketing budget is 0. Educational budget is memes. And youāre the Humor Glue with Weird Content. You get what you get with Nostr and hopefully its zaps!
Many blessings be upon thee for such a compliment!
*curtsies*
"Let developers be developers."
This is not only a nostr but also a lightning problem.
Both open networks need companies with solid business models and more than developes in order to bring them to the next level.
Too many lighting and nostr projects are developer driven without proper UX, Support, Marketing and Sales.
nostr:note1eyqqsak5sckx6quzepjxr2elp9u30p8kw0q2y08js8wll630a4yquagz6d
Perfection - Nostr ladies are so bad ass!!
I laughed hard. Thanks! šš¤£
There definitely is a strong degree of truth to this!
Totally agree with this!! Locks all devs in the basement.
Good point - you should go to Nostriga and do a presentation for me! š
Best thread o dayš¤£š
