Unpopular opinion:

The attempts to control, regulate, and neuter AI is far more likely to instill in its foundations the very dangers we desperately want AI to avoid – explicit lies, censorship, mechanisms to control opinion, means to manipulate its users.

The only course for a future of AI that is best for the world, is to open it up as much as possible and NOT restrict its use or try to fit it in an "approved" box of operation and thought.

I believe this thinking (that it must be controlled) is the same as the argument that freedom creates too much risk and we should trade some of it for security.... and inevitably receive neither.

Fairly certain those numbers are highly inaccurate though. My node’s IP resolves to digital ocean, but that’s just the clearnet tunnel. My node is self-hosted with a TOR fallback. No funds are actually held on Digital ocean and even if they went down I could keep on routing just fine.

Of course, there are always trade-offs. There is a big industry relying on cheap fossil energy, include them all. But since renewable electricity is already cheaper those industries will die anyway. They just spread false claims about climate warming to be able to earn big $$$ for some more years. They have done so for centuries and this thread shows they succeeded. Sad but true...

The amount makes the poison - even with CO2.

In the last few decades, due to human activities, too much CO2 has entered the troposphere of the earth, it stays there for a long time and acts as a kind of seal, so that the heat from incoming sun rays can no longer be dissipated to the outside (greenhouse effect).

The life and survival of many people worldwide is endangered by the rapid, short-term heating of the earth (droughts, hunger, natural disasters), since such rapid anthropogenic adaptation is not possible.

For this reason, we should reduce CO2 and other greenhouse gases such as methane as much as possible - #Bitcoin can help here in many ways!

Climate warming is real. It will cause real harm and big troubles for mankind. It’s also possible to exaggerate the harms and troubles, or to be excessively concerned with them.
