Just exploring the adventures of homesteading while enjoying the family life! We are @wilsonfamilyhomestead and @homesteading_endeavors on Instagram

We had some problems with bald eagles last year, so we got 5 guard geese. Hopefully they will keep them away! They sure make a racket!

Thank you! The ducks are very photogenic haha

Just some muscovy ducks enjoying the snow and pond. They are so tough! They rarely use their shelter and are very hands off, especially if you have a pond!

Yeah we don't grow a ton of them, and don't have any good recipes yet! You should grow a few and give them anyother shot!

Nope we are in USA Montana

Well I don't know if this counts, but this is a kohlrabi we grew last season that got pretty big!

An interesting vegetable some people might not know about. I certainly never heard of it or seen one growing up!

It's similar in taste and texture to if you combined a diakon radish and a potato. Plus they look really cool!

Sofia was a little scared to pet the new piglets, but she stepped up to the plate!

This is our 2nd year raising 4 hogs, really fun animal to raise and actually one of the easier ones!

Plus you get ham and bacon at the end of it all, hard to beat that!!

Here's those sheep I've been talking about. They are all katahdin except we have 1 Barbados who was a bottle baby.

It's so helpful to have 1 that's so tame. We can lead her into their new paddock and all the rest follow just like that! So much fun having a calmer herd you can get close to!

3 of them have had their babies so far, 2 had triplets and 1 had a single. Still waiting for a few more to have their lambs!

Actually did some steaks and ribs and shanks and 1 big leg of lamb. Kinda experimenting and seeing what we like. It was our first one

If you're only gonna do a couple deer or sheep or something per year it would be fine. We will probably get a better one though eventually as we scale up our sheep

Oh right on, that's good you have experience with that!

Yeah I guess after a certain number it probably makes more sense to just get a bull! Hope he isn't too crazy!

Haha that's wise! Definitely gonna be better having the fencing done before the animals arrive! Always a good policy!

Right on, I've wanted to try them but already have so many posts from premier 1, at this point probably not worth switching over
