Milei = Ron Paul + Trump

He has the sense of one and the charisma of the other.

He is a lightning rod, and a power grid.

He knows how to channel energy, and put it to use.

He has the ability to capture attention, and the capacity to keep it because his content is valuable.

His message has both wow-factor, and the substance + knowledge to back it up:

“Leftards are ugly and stupid, and this is why [insert Rothbardian dissertation, spoken in eloquent, sophisticated and emotive Spanish]”

He is both a leader, and has the policies to back it up. Milei is a true anomaly

———————-

You need Alexander the Great or Napoleonic energy if you’re going to lead and inspire people. That's Milei’s secret but obvious ingredient. It’s what he has that no other politician of his kind, and of his thinking has.

His largest cohort of supporters were young people. You think they understand Misesean economics or Rothbardian ethics?

No.

But what they can intuitively feel is Paternal Passion.

Young people can sense authentic authority. It’s like the teacher from school, who was at times strict, but he was cool, he was radical, he said what he believed, he was super smart, he could guide you and so you respected the fuck out of him.

That’s the energy Milei has, and that’s a big part of why he won.

Move the Mind and Spirit

In sales you have what’s called the emotional close and the logical close

The emotional close drives the sale. It closes the deal. It MOVES the customer across the finish line. They BELIEVE.

The logical simply exists to minimise buyers remorse - because at some point, everyone gets that.

It’s the same in politics - and this is where Milei has the chance to win big. If he can (a) educate people on his approach and these principles, and (b) execute on them, Argentina will do very very well.

The former will buy him the necessary time and patience. He will establish a relationship with his people that is one of a teacher.

The latter will deliver him credibility because there is nothing as indisputable as facts and results.

As you can see from the above video he is already doing an incredible job with this.

Further, the hilarious video below courtesy of BowTiedMara, who is documenting the best of Milei’s work.

Red light = Protest, Green light, GTF-Off the street 😂.

His policies are literally rewiring people’s minds and thus their behaviour.

------------

We in the west have been tricked. We’ve been told that Power is bad, that “all politics is evil”, that “we need no rulers” or “leaders”, and wonder why there’s been a power vacuum filled by the ugliest, vilest or parasites known to man.

When strong men, and energetic leaders shrug their responsibility, when they abdicate their position, who will fill that place? This is what Libertarians have gotten wrong for the longest time.

You need strength and power in leadership, coupled with a functional plan. You need both.

------------

Caveats

1. Y-Axis Tricky

I recognise the Y-axis is a tricky one, so I called it “energy / charisma.” I don’t believe people like Newsome are great leaders, but you could argue he comes off or carries himself as one. Same with Obama. He is well spoken, etc.

So in this dimension I am talking about some ineffable blend of BOTH the capacity for leadership and the perception of said leadership by others.

How magnetic is a person, and more importantly, a leader? This is why Trump and DeSantis for example, score differently - both on this chart and IRL.

2. Ron & Trump

Yes. Ron Paul was and is right about everything. And he really was in many ways the genesis of Milei. In fact, if it wasn’t for Ron himself, we’d have needed another one of him to rise up. He changed the course of history.

Likewise with Trump. He came out of nowhere. He was different. He did what nobody else ever had, and he fundamentally changed the game. His energy inspired a new movement. And now the best way to define who’s who in each country’s politics is whether they are like or unlike Trump.

“Germany’s Trump”,

“Holland’s Trump”,

“Poland’s Trump”,

“Australia’s Trump”.

Trump also paved the way, and Milei will have a similar, and perhaps greater legacy.

3. Argentina is Unique

Argentina is an interesting place because it is the most culturally sophisticated place, certainly in Latin America, and perhaps even all of the Americas. It has the highest saturation of European descent, and has on multiple occasions been one of the wealthiest countries on Earth. That doesn’t happen by accident. It has also been through multiple collapses, which also doesn’t happen by accident.

These facts have embedded themselves in the psyche of Argentines and they make for fertile ground for a shepherd like Milei to come along. For such a lightning rod to rise up and channel all the latent energy into a direction.

This is why it’s not just “policy” but “energy” and “presence”. His character won him the presidency, and his policies will keep it.

4. Zeitgeist

Milei tapped into the right energy, at the right time, in the right way, and matched it with his energy, charisma and knowledge.

This is a special moment because he was the right person, and Argentina in many ways, is the right country.

This approach may not work everywhere, but it’s for damn sure showing incredible promise in Argentina.

Here’s to Millie’s continued success!!

Libertad, Carajo !

Thank you sir !

Damn - I’ve got to find time to check in on Nostr more often

About two and a half years ago, while I was jumping country to country trying to escape lockdowns, I found myself in Sao Paolo, Brazil. For a long time, I’d had BJJ or some kind of martial art on my “list of things to do” but as we all know, life gets busy and unless you make the time, it shall be filled with other things.

I managed to do some classes back then, but left to Costa Rica b4 I could get into it seriously.

Fast forward and in August I joined a local Dojo, and convinced the master to allocate the classes from Sao Paolo to my record so that I could get my stripes faster (I’m travelling again soon and wanted to get some combat in beforehand).

In our dojo, you need two stripes on your white belt before you can actually roll. Each stripe is 30 classes of basic fundamentals, which takes about 6 - 8 weeks of regular attendance, unless you really come to extra classes. It took me about six weeks to get both stripes with the prior classes boost, and last night was my first roll.

Little did I know that Friday night classes, being the last of the week, were not the usual “intermediate” class. Instead it’s the one where all the advanced guys come to kick the shit out of each other one last time before the weekend. I walked into 2 x three-stripe blues, 2 x three stripe purples and a brown belt.

My teacher was kind enough to guide me on the first roll, and immediately, you realise that “this shit isn’t as easy as it looks”. You spend weeks learning basic moves with people in the fundamentals classes, but in those, nobody is fighting back. You can complete a move and practice it again and again. But here, in a combat scenario, the other person is moving and countering your moves.

You are literally wresting just to hold on and exerting yourself just to claim a position of dominance, and when you get it (the only reason of course in my case is he went easy on me for training purposes) you forget all the moves and thing you’re taught! I remember getting a side control and then thinking… “now what the fuck do I do?”

This is life. This is where you realise intelligence is not just in the brain, but is more importantly, in the body.

This is why I am fundamentally opposed to modern brain-in-a-vat theories and ideologies. These nerds view the body as just a meat suit, and they are so far from wrong it’s not funny. The body is as much a part of the “mind” as the brain is. One cannot exist without the other. You ignore the body at the expense of the mind.

Wrote a piece on this here:

https://open.substack.com/pub/remnantchronicles/p/the-morning-after-my-first-roll?

On this day, a year ago, I told you you were mine. Today, I renew that promise. You’re mine, forever woman.

We met in the most unlikely way. Me from Australia, a corona-convict ducking and dodging lockdowns around the world. You, from DR, having started a new life in Costa Rica, surrounded by crazy people.

What a ride it’s been since the first date that almost didn’t happen.

I remember when I first saw your cute little face on bumble. I was thinking, “nah - this profile is fake”. Well…you turned out real, plus even cuter & hotter in real life ;)

We’ve been through some crazy things together. Our 2yrs have been more than what most people experience in a lifetime. Just the number of places we’ve been to is more than I can remember, let alone the breadth of experience.

Despite coming from different cultures and countries, broken families, from completely opposite ends of the world & having different ways of being - we somehow, against all odds, found each other, stuck together and here we are. Our first “Anniversary”

You are a wild, beautiful and deeply intuitive woman. You’ve called upon the better parts of me to step up, especially when I’ve been less than I can be. You’ve also drove me crazy for no reason other than your emotions are like the oceans. You’re a woman in the deepest most attractive sense.

Your loyalty, devotion and sometimes psychotic Latina possessiveness are unmatched. And I love all of it.

You’re my wifey, my woman, my little sidekick, my clown, my slow cooker, my personal chef, my travel buddy, mi esperanzita, and some other things I won’t mention here 😏

Nietzsche was right when he said that “what a true man wants more than anything are danger and play, and it’s why he chooses woman as the most dangerous plaything.”

Love you.

You’re mine.

Here’s to many more adventures together.

1971 sure..

But damn - I think back to my childhood, growing up in the 90s, and parts of it are nostalgic (90s were the last decade of aesthetics) but damn some things make you angry.

They convinced us Eggs & Bacon breakfast was bad. With it we saw the rise of "Heart Healthy" Granolas laden with HFCS and seed Oils, or cereals "fortified" with vitamins, but in reality no more nutritious than the box they came in.

They convinced us Milk was bad, and we saw the rise of Soy Milk. I remember how bad that shit tasted as my immigrant parents who knew no better switched us over to that shit. They could never get the taste right and I remember Rice Milk replacing it, then Almond Milk and now Oat..

They convinced us butter would kill you, and sold us Margarine. I still remember the ads about "Unsaturated fats are good fats" and that Fabio idiot in "I can't believe it's not butter" ads.

Of course, Crisco and "Sunflower Oil" began to line ALL of the pantries, with packaging that showed beautiful fields of these sunflowers. How could you not think it was healthy??

Low Fat, Soy and Seed oils truly became mainstream in the 90s, and it settled in right under our noses. The Milk-man disappeared. Everything became plant-based and containerised. Ultra Heat Treated, Pasteurised, Homogenised and basically turned into anything but food.

Also..Gluten Free.. Granted this was more the 2000s, but I remember every decent flour-based food became some rice or legume-replacement. I used to buy Rice Pasta and try to convince myself it tasted better than the normal stuff. 🤣

Aspartame was another. "Sugar Free Sweeteners" popped up in every cafe just as I was hitting my teens.

It's insane the kind of shit many of us ingested - EVEN THINKING WE WE'RE BEING HEALTHY !!! Like holy shit. I wonder sometimes how much stronger we'd have been if that wasn't the case.

It was (and still is) some new fad every six months, and since then it's been one dumb ass experiment after another. Ignoring the basics.

Soy Lent, Soy Burgers, Lab Grown Meat. "Health Bars" lining every aisle in the supermarket. Seed oils in absolutely fucking everything.

All greater and greater monstrosities.

All failures in their own right, requiring a new "expert" and a new "study" to sell some "new food" to save us all.

The nerds truly are a plague on the Earth.

Morons thinking they can somehow defeat nature, but instead creating Frankenstein foods that destroy everyone's hormones and innards.

Anyway. Random rant. Was talking about it with the wife this morning. How we both felt scammed growing up poor and to parents who tried hard but didn't know better - and also how lucky we are to have been curious enough in our own lives to find our way to the basics, and to corners of twitter like this - and what that will mean for our own kids.

Those of you who are on the same page as me here, may your kids grow up strong and healthy too. They will form the leadership of the resistance, in a sick world that sorely needs new Vitality injected into it.

Our generation is running on raw willpower. We got robbed unwittingly. But many of us have learned. Ignorance is no longer an excuse. It's our job to now lay the foundations. Our descendants will be the ones who build and reside in the home.

Happy Sunday!

I see a domain with “human progress” and I already know I’m gonna throw up reading what’s already a painful title

I just redeemed 50 sats that nostr:npub1nxa4tywfz9nqp7z9zp7nr7d4nchhclsf58lcqt5y782rmf2hefjquaa6q8 has sent me via a 21 sat zap and now I find myself believing the hype

Shrodinger’s hype

Huh? Bragging about sex?

Get your insecure head out of your ass. I enjoy sex with my wife, and it’s a big part of what we do together, and it’s on the list of things I’ve been doing.

I suggest you find some time to do it yourself. Might make u feel better

I've enjoyed being away from the digital world for a while. I've lurked and made the occasional poast here and there, but for much of this year I've been focused life in meatspace.

Writing, reading, lifting, grappling, living, travelling, eating, reading, sun, sand, seawater, sex - and building..

It's a strange feeling coming back to bird app (is it even a bird anymore??) - but here we go. I definitely got pulled into the vortex of stupidity in 2022, so it will be interesting to see how I manage it this time.

I've got 3 primary project this year, and I'll be posting about them + doing a podcast and spaces roadshow to discuss each.

1. nostr:npub1tayp5jjjfqx4ufukxqamsl28wd5pggvteqe6u9n3svjn62lfr0hsp89l42 - this is an attempt to build a more 'based', Bitcoin-Austro-AnCap language model that doesn't waste half the response moralising and apologising, and the other half on platitudes. The hope is that it will become more than just a tool for Orange-Pilling people, but also one they can use for some biased feedback / ideas / opinions that are not of the woke variety..

2. BitcoinTimes.io - In its 6th time around the sun, this year's Bitcoin Times will be "The Energy Edition." Bitcoin has fundamentally transformed our understanding of "What is Money," and it is now compelling us to dig even deeper. Vaclav Smil said that "Energy is the currency of the Universe." Turns out Bitcoin is a symbiosis of both. If you've got an interesting on take on Bitcoin through the lens of energy, or energy through the lens of Bitcoin, reach out because Gideon Powell & I are co-writing a piece, and we have room for 2 more collaborators. You'll be joining nostr:npub1guh5grefa7vkay4ps6udxg8lrqxg2kgr3qh9n4gduxut64nfxq0q9y6hjy Drew Armstrong of Cathedra, Harry Sudock & Brian Gitt

3. Last but not least, The Bushido of Bitcoin, being published by Bitcoin Magazine. This is a different kind of Bitcoin book, and one focused more on WHO one must become, if Bitcoin does transform the world in the way we think it will. What Virtues will be most important to embody and inculcate in our kin? What will the new playbook-for-life look like, when the materialist-oriented, money printing machine dies, and the measuring stick for human competition and cooperation becomes fixed & incorruptible? I ask some very hard questions in this book, and will challenge your thinking about Warfare, morality, the body and the mind, money, affluence and much more.

I'm adding the finishing touches to the book now, and hope it will be available for The Bitcoin Conf in Amsterdam.

I know some of you have asked me if I'm going to kick the Podcast off again. For now, no. I want to focus on my own things right now, and as you can probably tell, my plate is pretty full.

In saying that, I will endeavour to do some writing again, both for Bitcoin Magazine and on my own Substack; The Remnant Chronicles.

A particular topic I want to delve into is Bitcoin Nietzscheanism, and how "Energy Money" as a concept makes way for a world in which Quality, Excellence, Merit, Ingenuity, and Vitality once more become North Stars.

That's an update from me, not that you asked for it. More a diary entry for me.

Good timing too. I just realised it's the 1st of August!

My favourite month..

See y'all around.
