Is this a common issue? I was under the impression that, even among bitcoin maxis, it wasn’t. Degenerate gamblers notwithstanding.
If you’re buying so much that you have no immediate liquidity to pay for basic needs or the ability to cover a sudden emergency, then, yes, you’re overextending yourself into Bitcoin and exposing yourself to have to sell at inopportune times. This feels obvious so it’s odd to see it addressed. Perhaps I’m wrong and there are swathes of people just slamming every last cent into BTC, though. 🤷🏻♂️

Had a lovely conversation with my Lyft driver on the way here. He told me a story about a ride he picked up in a bad neighborhood at 2:30am. It’s was a woman who was leaving her boyfriend’s house after they’d had a huge fight. He scheduled the Lyft, waited a few minutes after they’d departed, and cancelled the fare - k owing their policy was to drop the rider.
The woman was near tears and terrified of being abandoned in an unknown and dangerous part of town with no way of getting home. The driver decided to take her home anyway, out of kindness.
We need more people like this in the world.
