one way I like to think of it: bitcoin is like nostr, a decentralized protocol, no CEO, no management, rules without rulers.

crypto is like Twitter, a centralized “company”/authority that can change the rules, rules BY rulers.

yes, Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency, but it’s the only decentralized cryptocurrency. Bitcoin ties the digital world to the physical world through its PoW mining, but I won’t get into the weeds.

Imagine the amount of energy that all the countries of this world spend on the #military to protect their currencies and currency areas. Currencies that are centrally created and controlled by a few entities, created out of thin air, and can therefore be inflated.

Then put #Bitcoin next to it. A #currency that everyone can use, but no one has to. No one is excluded. A currency that is absolutely scarce in its quantity. A currency, which functions world-wide. A currency that has what it takes to replace all others and can give us humans a common ground. A currency that consumes energy to protect the values. The more energy it consumes, the safer it is. And the energy used to mine it must be cheap to make mining worthwhile. Actually, only renewable energy, which cannot be taken at production peaks, can offer this price. That's why the network is already so green and getting greener.
