I got 3 x “nobody has ever asked me that before” this week on my “do you take bitcoin?” questions.
Zero takers, but also zero “what is bitcoin?” replies.
Love the innovation on Nostr.
Yes, true for me. Heard about stacker.news on Nostr.
#[0] as someone who captures a ton of data for their site’s operation, what do you about creating specialized image relays which distribute image data via Nostr protocol? I think this will create a new level of censorship protection and decentralization and also create direct #value4value pathways for artists/content creators to claim ownership of and be rewarded for their digital content via zaps.
In my opinion, this will happen eventually, but what are the biggest technical hurdles you can foresee to accumulating and distributing larger size notes on specialized image relays?
This is why the IMF are desperately to convince member states to choke access to bitcoin. The more they try to choke bitcoiners out, the more we must develop solutions which render traditional banking and irrelevant (robosats). #[0]
Relays could hypothetically distribute octet stream blobs in their “content” field containing image or other digital data. In my opinion these notes should have their own “kind” so that standard relays can screen out notes containing image data.
I think this would help to decentralize Nostr further and reduce potential censorship. The challenges are getting specialized relays dedicated to distributing this content as operations cost will be higher than standard relays.
Finally I think image relays would allow meme producers to get rewarded via zaps rather than the people who distributes the meme. Perhaps we could even define splits where all zaps goto the relay who then distributes the zaps based on splits defined by the author.

Checking relay distribution
I’m in my 40s and I abandoned Bank of America for cash app. On the bitcoin standard, ease in and out of bitcoin is critical. That is something Bank of America will never support.

Yes, there are Tor relays. I just haven’t set mine up as an onion service.
I think we will see some form of file distribution microservice on Nostr protocol. Working on something in this space. Advantage would be tipping⚡️ the file note rather than the person who sent you a link and provable authorship of the file note. As the relays would be holding the files, precautions would be necessary to avoid DNS takedowns of illegal content.
What would be your security requirements for the relay? I imagine the relay operator would want to remain anonymous, so the relay would be accessible from Tor only. Other relay users could repost notes to outside clearnet relays. I like how Nostr would allow the author to sign their work and receive zaps.
Was thinking we should scrap the http image hosting model altogether. #[2]
Highly recommend this as a starting point for orange-pilling your kids https://youtu.be/5Fzxn0zECh4
