I hitchhiked across the country in my late teens. Proud to say I’m still here. Some close calls though! 😅
Noticed slugs were really starting to work on this cabbage, so I had to pick it. If the slugs leave them alone they can get well over 10 lbs. I am going to sauté it in butter and serve it up with some smoked pork belly.

I think you will still be good. I try to get them in early because when the rain starts here for real they do not hold up well. They over winter in my climate but start to rot by mid November.
What I noticed is that even if I’m dragging to start. My body has become accustomed to the work and another gear just kicks in. When I am done, I usually think, I don’t know how I just did that. I didn’t think I had that much energy, but I guess I did.
I’ve noticed my endurance has gone through the roof.
I do, I compost everything. I wait until all of the summer crops are out then I make a big pile with the chicken bedding.
I don’t do anything special. I cage/ stake. I usually leave 2 or 3 vines per plant. I space 3ft apart in zigzag fashion (two rows) in a 4 by 25 ft bed 15 or 16 plants per bed. I grow a mix of determinates and indeterminates . I like to grow a lot of Russian varieties, they do best in my climate.

Pushing through. I was tired today. I think I did too much yesterday.
We don’t have hornworms.
I did a saladette tomato trial this year. This is the winner. Plants are loaded with tomatoes. My estimation is 20lbs of fruit per plant. Zero blossom end rot and holds for weeks on and off the plant. It isn’t the most flavorful fresh, but it slow roasts down to candy.
