St Illtuds, Llanwit Major - first full Plein air painting using all my kit, starting from a sketch for composition / value check then fully painted on site.
The special sky effect is known locally as ‘rain’ - after two days of intense heat I decided to risk it on day three and it started raining just after I’d put the sky in. Stepped back to get a bit of shelter from some bushes and carried on. Then the intense heat returned. It was so hard putting in the roofs and trees the paint was drying almost immediately, so I didn’t put in the bushes and trees in front. I could have added later inside, but then it wouldn’t have been totally Plein air, so I decided to leave it 🤷♂️, I think it still looks ok. So pleased to have done this.
Decided against putting the archaeological dog tents in too.

I'll be doing a walking tour for the New Glasgow Society on the 19th of August. It will focus on Glasgow's amazing architectural sculptures and highlight some of my favourite ones from Glasgow's city centre. Not with it today. Managed to post my painting on the wrong account…
Leaving it there as people are reacting to it, but need to add it to my server here (apologies if you see both, not meaning to spam you).
