Because of that sneaky time change last night, this cowboy dozed off early — before my usual “Ranch Office Top Engager Meeting.” with Katzing 😻😅 So this morning, when I went to find Katzing, she was already out on early-mouse patrol. 🐭💨

Feeding time 🌾 after the time change to wintertime sure looks a little different — gone are the pretty sunsets, replaced by pitch-black nights and the sound of sheep crunching hay in the dark. 🐑🌒

And let me tell ya, for a beginner farmer that first winter’s a real challenge, just a warning going out to all that have romantic feelings when seeing my posts popping up! Farming in daylight’s one thing, but farming in the dark? And soon in ice & snow? ❄️🥶 That’s a whole new level. But you can’t skip it, can’t pause it, and the animals need you, so you sure can’t run from it — you just face it head-on and keep moving. Winter’ll always test you, but after that first one, at least you know what’s waiting for you the next time around.

But no matter the season, ranch life’s never easy. It’s tough, raw, and full of worry and loss — but it’s also beautiful in ways words can barely touch. Out here, every heartbreak is matched by a new beginning, every hard day by a quiet victory. The bond between you and the animals is the purest form of love. It’s a life built on contrasts — its own kind of yin and yang.☯️

This job never stops — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days, there’s no ‘ill’, ‘sick’ or ‘I don’t feel good’, I remember cold winter days cleaning stalls with having around 40 C/104 F fever or filling up feeders one day after a surgery — and it still won’t pay you for all the time you pour into it. But the truth is, our kind doesn’t count hours, we aren’t doing it for the money anyways. The real reward runs way deeper for us — like the trust shining back at you from an animal’s eyes, the first green sprout pushing through the soil, those hay bales or wood tucked away dry before the storm hits or the moment new 4-legged life is born without complications. That’s the kind of reward money can’t buy. 🐴🌿

That’s what makes us ranchers & farmers a special kind of breed — stubborn, strong, and proud to live this life for real, literally grabbin’ life by the horns. 🤠💪 And I wouldn’t trade it for anything. 🔥

Last night turned from fear to faith, from heartbreak to hope.

Reba’s first litter didn’t come easy — after her water broke, the birth got stuck and we had to rush for an emergency c-section. We lost two little souls before she even started to give birth, one of these blocked the birth channel 💔, but four healthy pups (all six male, no females this time🙈) made it through and are already nursing strong. 🐶💪

Reba handled it like the amazing mama she is — gentle, proud, and full of love.

That’s ranch life’s yin & yang… every heartbreak matched by a new beginning.❤️

Reba’s doing really well, y’all! 🤠 She’s up, alert, and already proving to be one amazing mama. After waking up from the sedation, she accepted all 4 little miracles without hesitation — every single one is nursing strong, and Reba’s taking her cleaning duties very seriously. 🧼🐾

Just like Bonnie back in January, Reba is a first-time mom, but you’d think she red five dog-mom books and joined every Border Collie mom group online. 😅💞 It’s truly amazing how natural she is — full of love, patience, and that mother’s instinct that melts your heart. 💖🐕

Folks, today I bow my hands in prayer for our beloved ranch family in the Philippines 🇵🇭 — a fierce storm, Typhoon Kalmaegi (locally called “Tino”), is rapidly intensifying over the Philippine Sea and will soon make landfall in the central islands.

My heart 💔 goes out especially to those in the path: homes still recovering from previous disasters, families already worn by hardship. You are not forgotten. The skies may roar, the seas may rage, but you are not alone.

I believe in your strength. I trust in your courage. And I offer this simple prayer for you — that you stay safe, sheltered, and supported; that you feel help coming; that hope holds firm.

Good Night Cuddles” shift at Get It Done Border Collies — the sweetest “job” on the ranch - and it’s mine! 🐶💤 After their training, some return to the homes they came from, some came to find new homes and some came to stay.

Meet another one of my daily cuddling partners: Spot 🐶❤️

Spot joined the GID trainee group not long ago to unlock the full potential of his working dog heritage — and he got plenty of it, this boy’s got both, the drive and the heart. 🐾 From strength in the field to softness in the cuddle shift — he’s the full package.

Actually his talents mixed with his soul is remarkable! This fact makes him a candidate for the ranch own breeding program. Genetic and health tests are next. Cross fingers!

He’s proof that good genes mean nothing without a good soul behind them. 🥰

In the time when the world was new and the forest still remembered the songs of creation, the Great Spirit sent a tiny being made of light and wind — the Hummingbird.

She was born to carry hope across silence and to remind all living things that even the smallest heart can hold the fire of the sun. With wings that shimmered like turquoise and amber, she danced between flowers, stitching the earth and sky together with every beat.
