Immanuel Kant was born 300 years ago today, on the 22 April 1724. His philosophy is described as something you cannot go around, but must go through, to comprehend modern day philosophy. He thread the needle between the British empiricists and the continental rationalists into the philosophy of idealism.

I believe his philosophy is key in understanding our society today and the structure of science and economics. Through understanding Kantian philosophy we have the potential to fix the mistakes we have made in economics, and solve road blocks we have hit in science.

Exciting times, considering 300 years was like yesterday in the context of intellectual contemplation.

The vast majority of people I know go with the second one. We live in a Hobbian world where we believe the Leviathan is required to tame the beast of man. It's not a coincidence that Hobbes was an empericist. In the world of the rationalist, monsters to rule man are not required.

It's time for us to return to the fundamental questions we grappled with 300 years ago. We may have made a mistake.

The mistake we all make is assuming we would do the right thing in the same circumstances.

Under your numbering system, you have a least two symbols "1" and "0". In Von Neumann numbering system, there is only "0" which is defined as the empty set. The remainder of the natural numbers are just the "successor" of the empty set. The idea of "1", and thus "10" doesn't exist, there is no base.

You look at worst of Australian Aboriginals communities today, after the impacts of colonisation, and destruction of their society, and tar 50,000 years of history with the same brush. It does make sense why the ANU article triggered you in such a way.

Numbers are just sets of empty sets :) Base 10 works well for us because we have 10 fingers.

They are the oldest living culture in the world. There should be a lot to learn from them. Australia does have a extensive history of racism against Aboriginals, so posts like yours easily roles of the relays.

There are some very important conjectures in mathematics, that are the foundation of a lot of science, that are yet to have proofs. Looking afield is one potential way to crack them, which could include "indiginous mathematics". Mathatics is far from complete and universal.

Mathematics can become stalled in one particular culture. If we don't continue to look afar, and and embrace other traditions, then mathematics will stall. Two simple examples is the concept of zero, which the Pythagorians detested, and Indian mathematians embraced, and this is all attributed to cultural differences. The other example of Roman numerals, vs Arabic numerals. Again, cultural values around the the role of interest on loans played a large role here.

So very happy to disagree with your take. All countries have issues, and for Australia, this is not one of them.

The great Bitcoin and nostr synergy; Protocols, not platforms. A protocol is just a language, no need for a middlemen. A platform facilitates the communication, thus they can censor and corrupt as they please.

It's time we learn how to talk again. Talk the language of remote communciation and the language of value transfer. The middleman that current assist us "talking" have failed us, and will continue to do so.
