It’s called Temporal API because it’s taking `new Temporal.Duration({years: Infinity})` to be widely available
What's the German word for when you bought something a long time ago, realize nothing currently-newly-purchasable is better than it was, and wish you had bought more than one back then?
When I woke up this morning I didn’t realize I’d become Pro Brick-Ossification
"You learn more from ripping down old buildings than you do building anything new. You can always see what's rotten"
Just realized my beloved Flipper Zero reminds me of my beloved Handspring Visor.
In addition, the Flipper Zero could have been a Visor Springboard Module, and would enjoy a larger touchscreen, Palm OS infrastructure, whilst running off commodity rechargeable AAA batteries.
I don't think there's any vaster gap in computer science between a low quality implementation and a high quality implementation than text rendering.
Low quality: 26 bitmapped English characters, 10 digits, maybe a dash, colon, period, comma. Blit onto screen. Monospace if you're feeling even more lazy.
High quality: Vector graphics. Just fonts are their own field. Security issues in font files. Unicode. Composable color emoticons. Ligatures. Turing-complete type hinting. Right-to-left and top-to-bottom languages.
Me, learning about Public Key Encryption in 1997: Awesome, this free solution solves a bunch of obvious technical and social problems, can't wait for it to be widely-deployed and taken for granted in, at most, a couple of years.
Me, in 2025: Whelp.
Dictionary Attack, verb: a phenomenon wherein the software industry claims every word in the dictionary for project names
I used this all the time back when I was on Twitter. They don’t get any notification you blocked them

I listen to a ton of podcasts, but I’ve never listened to a Spotify-only podcast. Can I pay another buck less per month to strip them from their UI?
Switched to Spotify Basic Individual
I'm price insensitive, but hoping paying a buck less per month spares me from Spotify spamming my UI with Oprah Book Club caliber audiobook recs
Me, flexing, in 2000: “I don’t even watch TV, man”
Me, flexing, in 2024: “I don’t even pay for streaming, man”
Audio. I only listen to podcasts, even video ones (automatically transcode to mp3)
Achievement Unlocked: Backed up enough times to B2 (via Arq) to hit their esoteric `Error: no tomes available`. The good news it's transient, just try again

Fiction is cool I guess, but dude, have you checked out Reality? Fucking blow your mind
I love that Deno has good, built-in CSV support
```ts
import { parse, stringify } from "https://deno.land/std@0.207.0/csv/mod.ts%22;
const recs = parse(Deno.readTextFileSync("input.csv"), { skipFirstRow: true });
recs[0].name = recs[0].name.toUpperCase();
Deno.writeTextFileSync("output.csv", { columns: Object.keys(recs[0]) });
```
I hope Apple keeps around Rosetta 2 longer than the 5y they kept around Rosetta 1, it's handy for testing armv8+x86 builds on Apple Silicon GitHub runners https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rosetta_(software)#Rosetta_2
Can confirm. Depends on your personality, but building is the only activity that satiates your soul.
Status and money can help you build cool projects, but they’re just inputs into assisting building. nostr:note1m72x6w5qqg43s3ea62vcfh3k8ytushtzwxzj4nwwr0p5adq72gtshzx9l8
Enshittification is just slow-motion rugging, just 100x faster than fiat
Searched around, I'm surprised no one has made the simple tie of enshittification to fiat?
