I am honestly very skeptical about #bitcoin ETF everybody's talking about.
I have zero confidence and trust in institutions and that the paper bitcoin they will provide will be backed 1:1 by the actual asset. (Not mentioning evaporation of the fundamental benefits of bitcoin itself.)
Maybe it'll be backed 1:1 for couple of days or months, but this will too inevitably break. As everything that is controlled by such institutions. It's just a way for corporations to get exposure to bitcoin price, while it will still be only on-chain self-custody purchases that will actually move the price.
It's beautiful, if you think about it.
Some bitcoiners are pro BIP300, some against.
It gets decided through intense discussion & evaluation. In the end supermajority of highly intelligent and capable people must agree.
That's something which doesn't exist in modern policits.
It gives me great hope that all is gonna turn out just fine.

I don't think there is. And if so, it's definitely not as decentralized and secure.
#bitcoin is still the cheapest and fastest. There is no alternative which would allow you to send thousands or even millions of dollars in matter of minutes and pay only cents or maybe couple dollars on fees during peak periods.
And if you want to pay smaller amounts, you can use lightning ⚡ which is essentially free. And most merchants that accept bitcoin accept lightning already too.

You can potentially try BIPs on testnet as well 🤔 But it doesn't simulate all the potential consequences as you need all the users and their curious brain power fucking around to realize all the true consequences.
In my opinion - ability to test other BIPs on sidechains is not a sufficient use-case. As well as potential for ultra private sidechain isn't good enough use-case for me either.
But that's just me.
