Can someone explain to me exactly how demand for paper bitcoin via an ETF translate to an increase in spot price on worldwide exchanges of the real thing? Doesn’t it depend on how the custodian acquires the BTC? If these big banks develop ways of increasing their holdings via buying from miners or some agreement with coinbase, can’t it result in price suppression?
Yeah blackrock has to stay in compliance, but who is watching their custodian, coinbase, making sure they are really buying spot Bitcoin on the open market?
Agreed. But this suppresses price of BTC yes? since I assume etf custodians are buying the BTC ahead of their listings off exchange. I have heard argument that this further “coils” the BTC price spring, but it’s tough watching fiatland faces melted while the actual valuable asset, BTC, takes a back seat.

BTC went from $0.05 to $50,000 during first 12 years with a theoretical supply of 19 million coins and a trillion dollar market cap.
Over the next 12 years, there will be even less supply assuming HODLERS, and tens of trillions of $ will want a piece of the remaining mined supply.
