This is a work created by a Hong Kong artist named “Jinjiang Nan” on June 5, 1989. The artwork is titled “Mom, Can You Help Me Ask?” It commemorates the youngest victim found so far in the #JuneFourthMassacre (or #TiananmenSquareMassacre ), whose name was Lv Peng (吕鹏), a third-grade student at Huangchenggen Primary School in Beijing, who was only nine years old. He was shot nine times and died, leaving nine bullet holes on his body.

Title:
“Mom, can you help me ask….”
Mom, I have celebrated Children’s Day nine times, but I only remember the last one. You took me to Tiananmen Square and told me that the older brothers and sisters were great, that they were doing it for our own good. They hugged me and kissed me. Now I am with them, and they still hug me and kiss me, but I still feel very cold. They say it’s because I have nine holes in my body. I don’t know why the People’s Liberation Army soldiers shot me nine times. Mom, can you help me ask…
