Yeah, I've noticed. As a teen I traveled with Americans and they always had a ton of vitamins with them. I grew up barely seeing vitamin C.
I didn't realize just how vaccine and medicine centered it was here until recently though.
There is no medical ads on Swedish TV, then I visited my in-laws and realized how it's VERY common here.
I'm glad I come from a different context so it's easier to notice.
It's interesting to me how in Sweden, the flu shot is only a recommendation for people in a risk group, but in America it's standard practice, so much that it's required for the immigration medical.
The nurse asked me when the last time I got one was, and my answer was, "eh, never." She seemed a bit confused by that answer π€£
In Swedish, it's the same word for bean and prayer, so people have often equated the coffee bean to obviously being good and Holy (jokingly)
However, as someone who doesn't like the taste or smell of coffee, I've usually countered with the chocolate bean being good and Holy too!
I just read yet another thing about how dark chocolate is good for us, and it clicked. Duh, of course it is, because it really IS the chocolate bean(prayer) that is the good one!! π€£
Today I got stabbed... I mean, a nurse asked me to sign concent forms, which I did, and then she gave me the 2 missing immunisations that's needed for immigration. So... even though I got stabbed twice, they were good stabs as I'm now one step closer to getting my green card.
I'll need to go back on Monday and get stabbed again, that time to actually bleed, as they need to get some labs done that they couldn't do today.
Progress is good though I'm not the biggest fan of the stabby parts π€£π¬
Wow that's so cool!!
McDonald's takes Bitcoin!
The argument against lightning network is ridiculous.
We want to spend bitcoin on Layer 1?
Why?
So you can wait 10 minutes to an hour while the payment goes through?
I'd much rather send BTC to my lightning wallet and use it from there for no extra fees. It's still bitcoin and you're still avoiding the central banks and their grubby little fingers.
If you're a bitcoiner expecting to spend bitcoin, you have btc on your lightning wallet anyway.
If not, you should.
Nobody planning to spend bitcoin is loading just enough btc for 1 transaction.
I'm excited! You should be too! https://video.nostr.build/78dcc1053b5a362e715dc5c83e23b936cfaac45b6689b0f17f148761d35b5c13.mp4
You say McDonald's takes bitcoin but the video is of Starbucks. Do both take it now? And if so, where?
My husband and I are 100% in bitcoin so it would be a ton easier if we could just pay directly instead of needing to convert to outdated fiat.
What do you think?
I updated the sales copy for my first book.
Would you wanna read this book after reading this copy? π

I loved how JD Vance started my using Kamala's "I grew up in a middle class family..." stick, but then ACTUALLY answered the question at the end.
I may not agree with everything he thinks are good ideas, but I'll be thrilled to have him on the team!!
Also, I hope the people who have been trying to kill Trump realizes that it won't be any different if Vance takes over, and they just leave Trump alone from now on!
We watched the VP debate before going to sleep last night, and I found myself dreaming about how they tried to snare JD Vance but he kept getting out of it.
One thing they tried at the end of my dream was to snare him for an apartment, but he quickly countered by saying he'd actually paid for everything himself when it came to housing, then flipped it on them and started asking how they got the apartment.
It was almost as good at the actual debate π€£
After seeing the VP debate, I think JD Vance would make a great world leader, as he kept finding common ground with his opponent, and would thus be able to do the same with other world leaders. He'd get them over to his side, to see where they agree, and then strike when they least expect it, getting his way in any negotiations.
He's extremely shrewd, wise, and diplomatic!
I'm impressed!
My husband asked Chat GPT to write sales copy for my first book, and I am floored. It's way better than I came up with.
It does have some mistakes as it's ascribing things to the main character that didn't actually happen to her, but it gave me some great ideas for how to upgrade my sales copy!
My first thought was, "Wow, I wanna read that book!! Oh wait, I already have multiple times as I wrote it!" π€£
Seeing the others answers, I like mine the best. I know it was supposed to be a wrong answer, but I'd love it if it were true!! π
I grew up with 3 cats. We got the first one in 2000, and then kept one a daughter and granddaughter a few years apart.
They have all passed away since then, the oldest one leaving in 2016.
I used to have dreams where she showed up but hadn't had one in quite a while.
Last night my cats showed up again, and as I was facing the oldest one and petting her, I was thanking her and God that they come to visit me some times... (while still dreaming!!)
It's so interesting having dreams knowing it's a dream, but somehow it's also real.
Who else has weird real/dream dreams?
My husband and I are both authors and also make our own covers. I help with my husbands covers too.
He usually picks a cover image and then I transform it into the right size and adjust text and whatever else might be needed.
I enjoy tweeking, and have a ton of patience for such things. However, lagging is aweful. π«
We're almost done with an updated cover and title to one of my husbands books. It's epic looking! π
The tax treatment in 2034 will look like for every zap sent, you'll get 10 back. ππ€£
I recently heard someone claim that women aren't funny, with only 3 exceptions. The other person added the fourth, "or Canadian".
Well, I'm not really any of the things they said, I'm not huge, Jewish, or Canadian (can't remember the 3rd but it didn't resonate either)
However, I am a woman, and I am funny. I guess I'm the exception to the exceptions π€£ that's pretty normal for me though so I'm not surprised π
We were having cheese and crackers and my husband said, "I'd kinda like to have some wine with this."
I paused for a second and then I went "wah wah wah". There, he got some whine with the cheese and crackers, that's what he wanted, right? ππ€£
I got an email telling me, "Your gmail is almost full, take action."
"Okay." And I deleted that email π€£π€£π€£
I recently got a new bag, and I keep finding myself looking around for snacks, seeing that bag and assume it's got some. It looks like a bag that should have snackies in it! π
