Cross posting my macro stuff here was my early intent, but I ran into frictions. I would start to but then forget to post stuff here. And some of the early desktop clients kind of sucked for posting images. Primal is making that better.

I found myself naturally posting “insider updates” about my book progress and stuff. And occasionally ranting about things. That’s what felt natural. Posting macro content here always felt like a chore. There are studies that show how hard it is to be “native” on two or more social media platforms. You can easily cross-post, but actually *understanding* the culture of different ecosystems is really hard. Reposting often feels hollow, especially because there is a big bitcoin community here but not a big macro community, and most of the small macro community that is here catches my stuff elsewhere anyway.

The more I think about it, unique content is best. Cross posting doesn’t hurt but it’s not the key driver. And the only unique content that will be genuine is stuff I feel uncomfortable or uninterested in posting on Twitter.

In theory PWA’s make tons of sense for nostr apps but I’m noticing the primal and kiwi apps just seem to struggle to load and display content in comparison to the native apps. Is that a fundamental tech issue? Native apps have access to local db’s and different network options?

the whole point of being able to block someone, for instance, on bluesky introduced a bunch of changes to their plans and architecture, because you have to control what someone else can see and not just what you see. People coming to nostr will have to trade that away.

No, no meadow on relays, that’s not smart. Doable, but inefficient and doesn’t scale, and also legal issues may arise. NIP-95 tried to propose just that, and most of the relay operators refused to accept (rightfully so). I am talking about resolving specialized nostr URL to an actual hosted file URL. Then, we need a mechanism to resolve it, something like gossip or torrent magnet link, or something else. 🐶🐾🫡

so right now we don’t have the tooling to offer the trade of controlling others for a personal utopia, I believe what nos social is working on will end up allowing an opt in product that will be what the vitriolic’s have always claim they want, but I also believe they won’t take it… note it’s always concern for what other see but they themselves can tolerate it enough to react to it.

Relay media is not a solution, it’s just not efficient and doesn’t scale. Embedded multiple URLs also doesn’t solve the problem, if both URLs are dead. I think a good abstraction layer here would be a solution but I am not sure if I didn’t miss something fundamental that will break things in adverse ways🐶🐾🫡
