On some clients like amethyst you can click the dots on a post and click "broadcast". That will reshare it to your relays including your private one.
Not only do updates happen on nostr fast but communities dive in every few weeks.
If you want a public relay do it on the clear net. You can achieve this with tailscale funnel but its on a beta waitlist.
