I can not get BraiinsOS to run on my S9. Im getting frustrated with this.
When i try to flash the SD card with the proper file using Balena Etcher, my computer crashes. If i use the Win32 program it dosent flash, just sorta copies a set of readable files onto the card, or something, it dosent look right. And it wont run.
This wont really matter at the cabin.
This matters somewhat in the workshop
This is a dealbreaker for the house.
I think my only real solution at this point is a newer model for the house? Like an S17 or S19?

The 3kW will mean running 3 machines downclocked to 1000W and delivering 1Thz/100W, so im hoping ill Get 30thz.
This is a test of sorts. The machines Are cheap and easy to get, thats why i choose them.
I wanted to make sure i was able to figure out everything before i invested alot of money.
As they will just replace existing energy consuption, the efficiency is of lesser significance.
Okay! I have made some progress. I think my SD card is now flashed in the correct way. Took some tries. This may sound wierd but my computer crashed, and that i think, is a good sign :)
I will try later this evening.
I also found out that my version of the S9 should attempt to boot from the SD as standard.
And i might not have waited long enough the last time. Tho im pretty sure the flashing also failed the last time.

The fan upgrade is a good idea. I have been trying to get BraiinsOS on mine, to downclock and Get some flexibility on heating output. Only option is the SD flashing now, and i can not Get it to work.
What fans you running?
The flashing of brains did not work.
I have tried to look into other solutions, but have come up short. I tried flashing 2 different SD cards with 2 different programs. Win32 and Balena Etcher.
Any tips? Like a video or something that explains it.
Tried moving those knobs on the main card. Some S9 need that to bot from the card?
BraiinsOS should now be propert flashed onto an FAT32 2GB SD card. I also found on the SD card a bunch of fotos from 16-17 years ago with myself as a young man. Lets say i spendt som time in Reminiscence .
I might be able to try it out this weekend. Hope so. I feel i am closing in to my goal of switching out 3kW ish of my electric heating needs with hashrate heating:)

So my 4 Antminer S9 arrived today. Very exciting. I unpacked them and tried mining for the first time ever, and it worked. I am amazed!
First miner seems to have one dead hashboard. It mined on 2 boards for like a minute, then died. Fans still ran but i could not find it,
Second one was a sucsess! Ran smooth after about 10 min and mined for about 1 hour.
Tomorrow i will try and Get braiiins OS on them, so i can control input/output.
And check to see if the other 2 work.

First update. I cancelled my order for the 2 miners as some popped up second hand nearby. So im getting them this weekend! And 2 turned into 3 (at a cheaper price) witch is nice. 40$ a piece.

Im back! Its hard this posting stuff, but now im on a mission. I just bought 2x refurbished Antminer S9. I have a cabin in the mountain and i uses 40-60KwH pr day to stay frost free. This is wasted energy.
So now i will use this energy to mine for the scarcest resource on earth. As the cabin just sits empty probably 250-300 days of year, noise is no issue.
I will start the miners at Home first and Get them running. Then bring one ut there as an heater and keep the other one at Home for learning and experimenting.
Ill keep you posted on this little journey learning and share what i find out.

Thats sweet. I just fired up my first miner ever today. Good old S9.
Plan is to use old S9’s for heat in the house, workshop and cabin.

I would absolutely love a good dip. If we could see it just sky of a hundred grand, just this once more, id be so grateful.
Stacking sats is the most fun I’ve had in years.
The goal is to be able to pursue what i love and work for myself. Another 2 cycles of backbreaking industrial work for basically minimum wage combined with discipline and i will «retire» 25 years before my peers.
