I create Fediverse software that empowers people online. I'm vegan btw. Note: If you have a question for me, please tag me publicly. This gives the opportunity for others to chime in, and bystanders to learn.

Just delete the database. You actually can just do that. It's what's great about it.

Thank you for making federation work with Minds, I guess?

It makes no sense. But it's what everything does nowadays so I've accepted it.

I'm creating an insane hybrid streaming system that works as both Mastodon API streaming and a Nostr relay.

I don't actually know the real reason, and only Jack could tell you. But the story I made up in my head to rationalize it is that Bluesky was originally developed to actually be implemented by Twitter. Nobody could have anticipated the sell to Elon Musk, which completely changed the future of Bluesky. But Bluesky is still trying to build the thing that would be acceptable to implement on Twitter.

Jack has stated multiple times that he urges Elon to consider decentralization on Twitter. It was clearly the goal. But it took so long for Bluesky to produce something, it is not exactly on the table anymore.

Nostr on the other hand, is not Mastodon. It uses private keys, like Bitcoin (another thing Jack loves). Gargron is very stubborn and has a strong political alignment, so it would not work. I'm not sure to what extent it was known that another side of fedi exists, and how much it would be worth salvaging. Nostr is an opportunity to build something fresh without any baggage.

I do feel some fear and frustration about having to take a step backwards before stepping forward, especially with election season now being a reality. I'm concerned that we will be "not ready" for it again, until the next 4 year cycle. So I'm racing to try to make it happen as fast as possible.

Being closed-minded limits your potential.

All the other vegans have me blocked on social media.

Thank you. This is the political input we needed.

You do you, AnFashSchizo 😏

Okay but the arguments against fascism are incredibly painfully obvious, eg "how about those 6 million jews tho"

And the response to it is either "that wasn't real fascism" or the very equivalent "that didn't actually happen", or even "so?"

And all of those things are exactly what people say who defend communism.

You have to be able to look into the mirror. You got to this place because of frustrations with the way the world are. Those frustrations are valid. But that doesn't mean fascism is correct, and same with communism.
