I create Fediverse software that empowers people online. I'm vegan btw. Note: If you have a question for me, please tag me publicly. This gives the opportunity for others to chime in, and bystanders to learn.

I will win this battle for one simple reason: I am smarter than you.

In a classic "why we can't have nice things", one brave man is attacking us from WITHIN to try to prove some sort of point, and try to make us fail.

I'm really tempted to build a New NewGrounds. It's a fringe priority at the moment, just something that's been working in the back of my head for a while. I think the world needs a new outlet to create and inspire others.

It's very important to be brave and have at least one hill to die on, or we risk losing even more freedom.

ActivityPub is just Hetzner.

Just took a vitamin... finally getting some B12 back in my brain.

Was reconsidering whether I should add ActivityPub support directly to Ditto, vs having a separate self-hosted bridge service that can integrate. But now I'm thinking what if we do it and just go straight to FEP-ef61: https://codeberg.org/fediverse/fep/src/branch/main/fep/ef61/fep-ef61.md

That's actually this spec: https://github.com/nostur-com/nids/blob/main/02.md

Hey nostr:npub1n0sturny6w9zn2wwexju3m6asu7zh7jnv2jt2kx6tlmfhs7thq0qnflahe you should turn this into a browser extension like the link above. And you could justify it further with NIP-07 support.

It's simpler than you think. Too simple. A relay is just a data store, and you can have just one.

I do see problems. Mainly regarding large private rooms.

Nostr is actually perfect for chat in theory. We can fix the username problem since it's not over a bridge.

The world is in a weird, altered state with Elon running Twitter. People who are here for censorship reasons are going back to Twitter. Something will break at some point, but what will it be? Will it be another Elon meltdown? Or something we cannot possibly anticipate?

We talked about this a lot at Truth Social.

Video hosting requires a lot of disk space and network bandwidth. PeerTube in theory tries to get around this with WebTorrent. But its biggest failure is in ActivityPub as a protocol itself, because you get none of the advantages of it on PeerTube. It's just a sioled self-hosted video platform.

What do you guys think the world really needs from open-source, online communities right now? I'm building yet another microblogging thing. It's awesome and I think you guys are going to really like it. But I feel like there's some idea floating in the ether that we haven't grasped yet. Something new.

I also have an unreasonable number of connections on my relay. Something fishy.
