After all the excitement, money, and hype of last year, Mastodon is proud to announce it has made 3 minor User Experience improvements.
Things look okay on my end. I don't know what it would be. Here's the log:
activitypub:client FETCH(500): https://kauaku.us/users/poes { error: "Internal Server Error" }
I will add logging, one moment
Just checking in seeing if there's any updates on Mastodon changing usernames.

Here's my new understanding of it after debating a little:
1. The fees are low for BCH because nobody is using it.
2. Larger block size DOES relieve congestion.
3. But even with 32x less congestion, it's still not enough to process all the world's transactions.
4. In the Bitcoin future that we want, where all the world's transactions go through Bitcoin, we would need something like 1GB blocks every second to handle the throughput.
5. Therefore some other solution is inherently needed in the long-run. BCH only solves a short-term problem.
Although... I think a short term solution could be huge for growth and adoption. And Lightning has all sorts of problems. I'm still a little mixed on it.
Average BCH fee: $0.0063
Average BTC fee: $4.12
So... increasing the block size worked?? I'm trying to understand why we built a whole complicated Layer 2 Lightning Network, with a basically impossible user experience and worse centralization issues, instead of just tweaking a configuration value?
What the hell, that's not what I mean. I mean like "I love you so much I want to rip out my own beating heart and pound it into the concrete until I break every bone in my hand"
Do you ever love something violently? I feel like there should be a Persian word for this.
How does Mutiny do it in a PWA if a Lightning node needs to be always-online? Am I misunderstanding that?
The whole reason Nostr exists is because "you can just run your own node" didn't work with Mastodon. 99.99% of people aren't gonna do it, and they're gonna have a bad time.
As I'm learning about Bitcoin Lightning, I'm seeing some major red flags. To use it, you need an account with a service provider. It's a username/password type of custodial account. Then, the node has full control over your funds. They could shut down without warning, or transfer your funds. The only way to actually have control is to run your own node, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of Lightning? The whole point is to allow many users to transfer tiny amounts of money a lot, eg zaps. To me, it seems that Lightning nodes have all the problems of Mastodon. Imagine the problems of Mastodon, except it's your bank account. That's bad. What am I missing?
This is like everybody on this godforsaken website.
