I don't think people understand that to even have a successful mineral interest in Ukraine you must first establish positive relations with Russia because for one , most areas with the minerals are occupied by Russia currently and it keeps all parties involved benefiting from these resources, thus at the very least stalling further escalations. Ask him to consider private a rent to own contract, he can get a better ultimate price and a decent down payment to help towards his immediate costs then income to help sustain him. Can they agree on that? It being a divorce sadly it's probably all going to his ex but it's an idea.
