Slightly off topic but I just learned about a company that went public in Canada trying to make money off of Lightning channels.
The stock price was been decimated so either it was always a low key pump n dump or a pie in the sky hope that Lightning and routing fees would become more than they already are.

Um. (Glances around) As a huge comic fan as a kid... I didn't really like any of the Marvel Movies that much. Logan was amazing. But otherwise... π€π¬ just the same cardboard story arc told over and over. I get that it's for kids so maybe teenage me would have liked them a lot.

Good points. In Canada a major grocer conglomerate just posted record profits. ~50% YOY profit increase. It's obviously a tough statistic to hear.

Obviously price gouging, especially when it comes to an essential area like food, is a cause for concern. Especially when there isn't a ton of competition between grocery conglomerates.
But to gaslight the public and try to place the blame for rising costs squarely on these companies seems wrong too. Inflation was caused in Canada by government spending and quantitative easing/cheap money printing. Period.
I don't have a quick answer how to stop price gouging but this isn't it. Threatening taxes and price controls. Nooo!
This us a result of such an artifical system like fiat.
The whole system needs to blow up but instead the federal governments just want more control and more taxes to keep the entire charade going.
So dystopian. π§π€―π

π¦π³π it's embarrassing. We all obviously don't like price gouging. And commodity, asset and consumer markets aren't all alike. And frankly, sometimes a bit of temporary government help is OK to right the ship or breakup an exploitive monopoly - wide open capitalism is exploitive...
But thus take is really hard to fathom. π³
Grocers could change $400 for an apple. Or give it away for free. They owe no one any answers. They're not at fault for rampant and consistent inflation.
This is such a bad passing of the buck.
