However, inefficient code can be written in any language, and deep knowledge of how compilers work, etc can allow one to create extremely efficient code, in nearly any language.

She does have control over when she sells and buys, but it seems she's invested because it's good advice, and not because she wanted to learn how.

If she has a long term hold planned, this recent news is barely a blip, and means nothing. If she's more of a short, or mid, term investor, then she should be following her exit strategies when they are triggered.

She's basically a gambler, and not an investor.
