I tried it once, didn't feel authentic. Fuck off Nostr just fuck right off π
Can you tell us next time you do? That's useful sell off signal π
Beleive it or not there are some bitcoiners who still don't get how the world works. There are layers.
Interesting I didn't have that screen. Wondering if I had old version perhaps. π€
There was no option like that for me. Interesting. Could be diff versions floating around I suppose.
I understand that but it just means the layers of control are embedded at diff level. Control nonetheless. Strike while a slick service is also KYC and therefore part of a control mechanism. I also use it but I'll move to my own LN node soon.
I use Amethyst on Android so not sure sorry. Maybe an #damus user can help you or as nostr:npub1l3e2uj7dzs226s7q9utf9ghml8f3mcv7252hd69nhg2z62updklqv8zq2r says perhaps use Nostur which I beleive is also highly rated.
Yes I get a little preachy sometimes. My apologies π
No shit. They can earn them like everyone else. Or purchase.
Oh some people have also mentioned they have actually not been able to withdraw. It was in a post on my feed a few days ago.
Sure it will have a place. I'm trying to bring awareness to those who care that it comes at the cost of your privacy. If you're not on board no problem. My main point was to make it known to newb sign ups. As you say many won't care or even know to care but in this case it's about touch points. They'll care when/if they get burned.
It's very slick yes. But at what cost? Your liberty is being farmed for convenience.
Exactly. Convenience in exchange for your details. That's why you and I are Stike users. Cos it's easier. But it's possible to set up your own LN channel with Mutiny or Zeus. No KYC needed. Convenience often takes a hit but I'd prefer that to KYC. I'm in process of setting up those now. I'll try post about it so others can follow if they like.
Strike is KYC garbage also. I'm getting off it also atm.
Some Tik Tokers will care if it's pointed out to them. Others perhaps most will not.
There are a few issues with what you say but I'll drop a reply later. Busy busy. Thanks for the thoughtful replies so far.
The way the UI is made none of that is known to the user. They are simply presented with a form to fill out. Many will think it necessary and enter true info. For eg the new tik tok sign ups. They don't know about privacy and fake data otherwise they wouldn't be on Tik Tok.
It's a subtle scam.
As you wish. One day you will respect your right to privacy more than you do now. It is hard as we swim in KYC data everywhere. π
Come on man. Then why is it there if it isn't necessary? It's a scam to get user data from people who are unaware eg recent new tik towers. The real question is who are they showing the data to?

Hi I'm Vance π
I'm not a new user. I've been around a year or so. I'd like to welcome all new users and tell you to avoid using #primal app.
It will ask you for your personal details (aka KYC) and there is no valid reason too in order to use Nostr. They are simping for someone. Perhaps govts which you came here to avoid.
On Nostr we care about privacy and are very aware of the powers that be and how they like to control. I REPEAT there is no need to give over the data they ask for in order to use Nostr.
**** Nostr is an open protocol but that also means open to nefarious actors. Beware. ****
Some alternatives are Amethyst on Android and Damus on iOS.
See screenshot below for their KYC page on wallet set up. Other users have noticed if you search #primal you will find some.
NB: the online world is swimming in KYC and its hard to avoid but I think its important to avoid in ways we can.
