#photography from a day trip to Stade, a city close to Hamburg. German cities that survived the war always seem to have this cute medieval atmosphere.

#ai optimists: “there will be more jobs created than lost.”

Only advent’s calendar that matters

Tried a new coffee this morning. I can’t tell the difference between types of coffee. But if the label says “notes of cookies and dark chocolate” suddenly I notice the cookies and chocolate. Words are really powerful for the ignorant mind.

With AI feeds, VR, and the inevitability of hyper personalized content it feels like we are building a prison for our minds, not AGI. We just can’t get away from attention sucking ad fueled business models.

Posting without proofreading 💀

Ok, smoking is finally uncool

Just started using this daily, and starting to realize how not-safe for work, or even public transportation, #Nostr is:

A #poem that Steve Jobs sent to a friend in 1974: "Don’t waste your life"

First time I saw an interview with Sam Altman, I thought: Man this guy could be a Marvel villain. I’m getting more and more convinced that he really is.
Why do we keep trusting the #wisdom of eccentric billionaires as if they have our best interests in mind, especially when there is evidence that a significant number of CEOs at the largest companies in the world exhibit psychopathic traits?
Every day, 720.000 hours of content get uploaded to #YouTube. That's more than 80 years of #video each and every single day.
It's nuts, and the sad part is that most of it, with or without algorithms, doesn’t even get a single view.

With the rise of influencers, authenticity has been already thrown out of the window, but AI generated photos of yourself is like the cherry on top of everything that’s wrong with social media.
I’ve always been a sucker for melancholic sad music, so I couldn’t agree more with this take from Tom Yorke:
"You know you’re in trouble when people stop listening to sad music. Because the moment people stop listening to sad music, they don’t want to know anymore. They’re turning themselves off."

#phone #photography #noedit

One thing that I’ve been doing is having a 3x power button shortcut to turn the phone into red tint, blocking most of the blue light. Purpose is different, but helps if you suffer from restlessness in the evening.
Getting Disney+ was a mistake. My evening reading and writing sessions have been replaced by binge-watching Star Wars shows.
Most people start the year with projections, predictions, reflections and resolutions. Most don’t change a thing.
“And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good.”
– John Steinbeck, East of Eden
Design education encourages new designers to use design as a tool for social change and sells them on the idea that fancy design methodologies can solve all kinds of problems. It is exhilarating, but everything always stays the fucking same.
Because the reality is that the system keeps incentivizing companies chasing infinite growth on the back of a planet with finite resources.
I hope that at some point, we can all find the courage to challenge that.
