That was an insanely busy day yesterday. From fixing the gate, to digging and then spreading ashes in the gardens, adding the second coat of mud to the sheetrock, filled hot tub, put up slacklines for the boys, got the irrigation going, moved a freezer, then went on a little hike around the property where I found a bunch of tiny flowers blooming.
The potato garden was where I decided to till and the boys helped clear it of debris first. It is ready for setup and then I will get it filled with potato starts. The Chicken Coop Door Opener is INSTALLED!!! It is needing some fine tuning to make the locking mechanism work right but the door opens and closes exactly like I want it to. I will get a video made of it in the next day or two.

Since I am awaiting the pulley I wasn't able to get the coop door opener installed yet but I did get the roof extension installed to keep the rain from hitting the opened door. It didn't have to be much but enough length to extend past the end of the door.
The first seeds are in the ground, 3 types of spinach, and I got a couple areas tilled. Today I have to spread the ashes, then the Rootshield, then I can till anywhere that is dry enough. The sooner I get all tilled the sooner I can get everything planted.
This afternoon I will install the coop door opener and this evening should be it's first real test.

We had a nice Easter yesterday with the weather being amazing and the boys got their hunt on mid day. In the morning I checked on the sheetrock mud which was still somewhat damp due to the thickness but I sanded what I could. I'll work on it some more today.
Fencing went up along the trail and I got the small section of the garden ready to be tilled then planted with spinach which I will get to today. The fight continued with the coop door opener but I am now to the point of only needing the pulley to have it working right. The new motor is WAY stronger.

After a bit lighter grain run yesterday morning, which the sheep were super happy to get dumped into their pen, I checked on the sheetrock but the mud was still too wet and needed another night to dry. I'll work on it today and likely get the second coat on. Mid day we went to the ranch were we buy our meat for their opening celebration. We came home with a nice bag of meat to get us through until our half comes in.
Busted out my footbags again and found my technique is still solid. Such a dynamic sport and makes me use most of the muscles in my body. I've got one in my pocket now so I can bust it out anytime I have a few minutes.
Hopefully I get the parts for the coop door sooner than later so I can get it working. SOOO cclose yet soo far away.

Just one servo that lifts and lowers the latch handle. The door is below the opening side of the window so I don't want the door slid up and blocking it. If the door was in the middle of a windowless wall I would do the guillotine.
I have a gate latch that is operated by a servo that locks the door at night.

I damn near made it work yesterday but ended up failing to get the coop door opener to work. The problem ended up being that the motor isn't strong enough or getting enough amps to pull the door up. I'm of the mind it is the shitty power supply so today the new one arrives and I will try the small motor again. I mean 5.25 pounds should be enough to pull the door up but the new much bigger NEMA 23 motor will for sure.
In the morning I got a pile of mud on the sheetrock and managed to largely feather the huge transition. I will check on it in a while but I am figuring it will take another day to fully dry with the thickness. It will get sanded and the final coat applied once it is dry.

The revolution is being memed
That was a serious fight yesterday. The servo just would not work right, the code was saying to go 180 degrees but it would only go to 90. Swapped to a different servo and got it working. Rather pleased with how the lock latch has come out and it will work perfectly to keep the door closed over night.
The insulation and sheetrock are up in hte studio and I have a ton of mudding to do to fill in the cracks and even out the fairly substantial variances. Good thing I have pounds of mud to throw at it today. Thankfully the weather is moving off so I will be able to start tilling soon.

I spent much of yesterday working on the chicken coop door controls and mounting everything in the case. It took me longest to find parts amongst my many boxes and bins. I had to dink with the code a bit more but it all seems to be working fine now. The fun begins now in how to mount everything on the coop.
After school conferences in the afternoon, where the principal gushed over our boys... we nearly forgot about the last wrestling practice which also was the team picture. We slid in just in time then slid in just in time to get food on the way home in a torrential down pour for the culmination of our squeaker of a day.

Yesterday morning as I went to let the birds out I heard the eep eep of a chick and found a hen had hatched out a clutch of eggs. Ended up with 7 chicks and the hen in the pallet hut nice and safe. Exactly why I only got turkey chicks this year.
I have the coop door opener code WORKING!!! The servo opens the lock, the motor will open the door and hold it all day until night when it will close again and the servo will close the latch lock. I am super stoked to FINALLY have this going after a decade of it tumbling about the nether regions of my brain.

Yesterday was a seemingly nonstop day with 6 trips off the farm, far beyond my norm. I got the spray foam around the new wall section on the studio which should be ready for trimming and sheetrock install now. The greenhouse is plugging along wonderfully and we have baby lettuce and spinach leaves now that are ready to be picked.
I have the motor driver coming today and am positive it will fix my stepper motor issues so I CAN use the Arduino for the coop. I even figured out the lock for when it is closed and using a servo to open it before the door opens. I'm anxious to get it all built out.

Yesterday I was not feeling it so spent the bulk of the day fighting with the Arduino code that had a few wrong lines in the examples that I had to figure out. FINALLY got them working and picking up a GPS signal so the next step will be trying to get the LoRaWan to work at the same time.
Today is busy with lots of errands and appointments so I won't have much time to work with the #LoRa. I'll be getting spray foam to fill in under the wall where there are rather substantial gaps left.

After the last wrestling tournament of the season, which was pretty tough yesterday, we got home in the afternoon and before dinner I got to pick a very nice modest handful of radishes from the greenhouse. This is the earliest I have ever had a harvest in the garden and though it was meager it was still a harvest. The radishes vanished in an instant as everyone of us loves them. These were SUPER mild and not hot at all and the boys were fighting over them. I love my greenhosue!

After fighting more with the stepper motor in the morning I managed to get the outer wall built on the studio. Rain was to the south so I was a bit pressed to get it up. In the end I got it weather resistant enough for the rains that are falling now. There is a good bit of gap filling to do but at least it isn't just a gaping hole in the wall now.
Last wrestling tournament today and it is a smaller one which has been great prior years. The season has been a bit off but he has had more fun at practices than at the tournaments anyway.
