I got the main potato garden planted yesterday after a pre-dawn grain run to town. It rained most of the day but it was a constant drizzle that just made it annoying to work in. By the time I was done I had over 200 spots planted using only the sprouted tendrils and a handful of seed spuds. I still have oodles of taters in the basement that will get us through till I start harvesting.
Today I have to keep tilling and pushing to get the gardens all ready and planted. This is the earliest I have been able to plant except one year in the past decade so I am taking advantage of it.

No it's from small breweries in Spokane. I have 3, well 2 at the moment as one is in transistion between brewers, but I've been getting grain for at least 7 years at this point. I till it into my soil and it does WONDERS for the plants through the season.
200 spots of potatoes are in the lower garden. My back is sore but now most of the sprouted tendrils and all the seed spuds have been put to good use. I plan 3 rows of the red Nordland in the main garden and now am thinking I will do a couple rows of the yellow in the pole garden as well. This is the earliest I have had potatoes in the ground.

I get spent brewing grain that I spread ALL over my farm and the birds love it. They pile into before I have even finished emptying barrels. Since mine free range they get a good amount of protein from the bugs but I still have some regular layer feed that I give them to augment the grain. The spent grain is great because the sheep and alpaca can eat it without as much bloat problems since the grain has already off-gassed.

After the rains yesterday morning I finally got outside but it was a bit chilly for much of the day. After cleaning in the studio I had to get the potato tendrils gathered and ready to plant. You don't need a whole potato or even a piece of one to grow, all you need is the sprout as it has tons of root nodes on it. In the afternoon I got 2 rows planted, 59 spots, with the sprouts. I still have a ton left, well more than enough to finish the other 3 rows in the garden and still over 150 pounds of potatoes in the basement.

The chicken coop door works like I intend it to, after a few modifications to the code to get the opening time on the zero minute and not on the one minute. Rather pleased with how it has all turned out and really happy to have that out of my head and into reality after over a decade of it tumbling around the back of my brain.
The main potato garden is now ready to plant and will get packed full over the next days. I plan to expand the potatoes to the other gardens as I have so many still. The red Nordland have some incredibly long tendrils which each can get planted, don't even need to plant a spud.

The coop door opener works now that I have it on the new Uno R4 WiFi board. Took all morning to get everything ironed outbut I now have a local webpage with the door stats and the timing and lock all seem to be working right. I will be out there at 8 to make sure though. I've only got cosmetic changes to the program to upload today that will add to the webpage.
Some rains today but I have a ton to do. The mud is dry and ready for danding, the garden spots need to be [prepped, last fine tuning on the door opener, Man Utd play today while the PDC is on, I might get more tilling done, and there are plenty of house chores to work on.
