I was at my computer yesterday morning when a bird impacted the window next to me with a serious thud. The feathers were still floating as it fumbled its way across the small cupboard and landed on the outlet. It took it a while to shake off the stars before it finally flew off and I could clearly see it swaying as it sat there.
In the afternoon I made a batch of pumpkin bread finally now that we are getting a lot more eggs. We have oodles of frozen pumpkin that needs to be used so I went to the trusty Betty Crocker cookbook and whipped up a batch. I forgot how much we all love it as it's been a while since I made it last. Likely won't last long which is good since I can use up more of the frozen to make space in the freezers.

I've been without for over 5 years now, same with fb. Never had any other accts excepts chain accts and it feels wonderful to not have that well of garbage open all the time.

Paragliding has changed my life for the better. It has taken me a bit to commit to it more since it requires a lot of driving time but this year I am making sure to get as many flights as possible. It can be an affordable sport to get into if you are willing to fly used gear for a while. Sub $1200 setups can be found and are more than sufficeint to learn with. A new wing runs $3-4k, harness $200-3K, reserve $500-900, and then a helmet. Then you can cary your wing with you up any suitable hill and fly yourself down or catch a thermal and off you go.
could learn to fly in some fashion. paragliding, hanggliding, sky diving, ultralights are all manageable to get into and learn. Flight breeds a serious pashion for sure.

It was cold in the morning yesterday and it seemed to have hit mainly the two rows of Jade beans that had sprouted. This year I have decided to grow a lot of cool-ish weather crops and root crops so the cold temps are littel concern to them. 2 rows to reseed is super minimal and much more easy to handle than losing half the garden to the frost.
The trees are starting to bloom and the plums and June berries look like they should have a super year. The June berries are so hit or miss the past years, 2009 was a mega year for them but I can only rememebr one other mega year since then, hopefully this will be one finally.

Yesterday morning I got in 3 #paragliding #flights before the rains moved in. I'm FINALLY feeling comfortable under my wing in the air and with the shortened brake lines the thing actually listens to me when I tell it to turn. This was the first time I have really felt in control of my wing in the past year and 30+ flights. At least now I can progress and improve and get much longer flights. My three flights were 5.5, 5, and 10 minutes. Got 3 hikes in, 3 flights, 3 safe take-offs and landings.
Back on the farm I got the turkeys a bigger feeder, did chores, and then went back to battle with teh dandelions which are rapidly losing while the sheep are winning.

What a morning! Got 3 #paragliding #flights in and landed the last and packed my wing right before the rains hit. Felt AMAZING finally. I had no fear and was focused on the feel of the wing and making my turns right to try and stay in the lift band. My shortened brake lines make all the difference now. I watched the birds park over me as I hiked up, like they were showing me, "hey the lift band is RIGHT here!". They wandered and parked in different spots which I tried all of but couldn't manage to stay in the lift. Great flights and hikes.

Yesterday morning I was at the hill at 8:30 and the winds were pumping pretty good. I managed to get myself and my paraglider launched and in the air where I took an elevator ride up well above the hill. My highest flight there yet. I'm going back this morning for another flight now that the winds are a bit more mellow and see if I can get some actual soaring in.
We got weather in the afternoon and I got a pile of dandelions dropped in the animal pens where they went plowing through them quickly. I have another few loads left to dig out so they have something to look forward to.

I get the 2"x25' ratchet straps for cheap and at one point had over 200 ft of them strung up amongst the trees. Stepped up from about 1ft off the ground to over 6ft. I haven't set them all up in a while though.
Have a couple short ones setup right now and once the rains are gone will get the 75 footer setup again.

Crazy watching Luke Littler continue his run of excellence in the #Darts world yesterday as he won his 2nd Euro tour. While that was on I got the coop door code snuffed up for the monthly closing time change so now the door shuts half an hour after sunset based on the last day of each month.
Got my #bouldering gear together so I can back to developing my climbing area a few miles north. Then the battle began, ME vs DANDELIONS. I'm happy to say that Iam winning the battle as far as I have taken it and will keep fighting them later today. Their infestation will not stand!
Off to go #paragliding again this morning before the storms hit midday.

Yesterday morning after picking up a load of grain I headed to the training hill to fly/paraglide with other club members. 4 of us with 2 new guys who wanted a site intro all hiked up and I was the first one off with a really killer flight. I launched from midway up the hill and got shot up a hundred plus feet over the top of the hill. It was one of my better flights, takeoffs, and landings I have had.
In the evening we went to the Brews For Boosters event which was pretty fun. We got to talk to the school superintendent (who knows our oldest and how smart he is) which was the whole point of why we ended up there. The levels of communication in our school district are unparalleled. We are very lucky to have our boys here wherre they are known and helped and not lost in the system.

We got our last plants in the co-op order yesterday and now the garden is completely planted. I may have to reseed a few things but for teh most part everything has sprouted or is in the process now. The weather has been perfect his year so everything is doing MUCH better than last year. The prospects of less daily harvesting this year has me rather happy that I will get my life back.

Okay #Nostr, I took the time this morning to rework the #Arduino code and the Chicken Coop Door opener is FINISHED! Pretty damned happy with this, it's simple, serves a local web page with details and stats, resets the clock every night at 12:01AM from an NTP server, changes the open close time by the season, and displays the IP address on the LCD since I'm on DHCP. The code is in the post if anyone has a desire to play with it.
