The upper garden is now no more. It was time to remove it and bring all the materials back down to the farm. It was a good run which saw a couple tons of produce come out of the 20x80 area with 100 growing spots. Largely the pumpkin patch it gave me some good years of production.
Went to try and fly but the winds were just all wrong. Tested the scooter and it mostly worked, just needs better climbing torque. The sudden flight over the handlebars and subsequent impact with the ground were a bit rough of a way to finish the test but the blood soon stopped.

I've taken to audiobooks far more than reading as I can still work while listening. I may not get as much of the content as if I was reading but it is far more than not. But I generally am listening to non-fiction, like your book.
The upper garden grew more grasses and weeds than produce. It's my own fault for not weeding early but hey, at least the sheep get hay. It was a battle to get it all to fit in my truck but the sheep and alpaca were deleriously happy at the mass piles suddenly dumped in their pen. The itch the grass caused was awful and I had to deal with it quick but it mellowed after the Benadryl. I will be tearing the garden dowwn fully so I can use the posts for the wood cover.

Thankfully they are all mellow birds so didn't fight too much. The hardest part was mashing through the brush with them.
After spending my morning yesterday getting my scooter working great, essentially resurrecting a 15 year old machine, I got more cleanup done around the farm. It was late in the afternoon when the real work happened. 5 of our turkeys had gotten "lost" across the creek for a month or so and it was finally time to bring them home. WHAT A SHIT SHOW, literally for J... But they are back and they slept in the coop again last night. Shit head birds.

I was looking at the trunks of the lilacs that I cut down yesterday but couldn't see clear rings like trees to determine how old they are. I'm guessing in the 50+ year range but they had not been properly tended to in a LONG time. So much dead, dying, too tall, too thin, too sparse, and not enough new growth from the bases. I'm hoping the thinning will help them with a bit of a reset.

Quite the day yesterday. Moved a ton of crap lumber around the farm and got the good lumber to the storage area and nicely organized. As I was loading the good lumber I had laid on the fire pit I found this bat between the boards. Only the 2nd bat I can ever remember catching. Got to show the boys before the little guy flew off out into the creek area where I hope it devours 100x its weight in bugs.

Most of my day yesterday was spent working on the scooter build. I am rather pleased with how it has come out so far and once the new sprocket arrives it should work right. I may end up having to find a more solid hinge but for now this seems like it will work.
Today I get to work on cleanup around the farm as we have rain inbound tomorrow and I have stuff scattered everywhere around here. Late summer is always the rush to get shit done and then make sure the farm is ready for winter.... "WINTER'S COMING!"

Yesterday morning I got some help shoveling the dirt back into the shed which brought the level up enough so I was able to rake it out well. The shelving is all scavenged wood and wow does it make a difference now. I loaded all the stuff back in and there is vastly more available space with the real organization now. There is still work to do on the shed but the gear is all safe, organized, and dry.
The scooter is going to be badass with the 1kw motor. Only thing is I need 1kwh of battery to run the motor for an hour... The wheels on the scooter are small so the 3000 rpm will not amount to super speed but it will be quick with super torque.

I've been picking up spent brewer's grain for well over a decade now and this is the first time I've had someone passed out right next to the barrels. Downtown it was a constant homeless prescence but not nearly so at the north brewery. He moved enough I could tell he wasn't dead so I just loaded the grain and drove off.
I had to setup my other bed liner since it was the last trip for my old one with it being to flimsy now. The new setup is pretty slick and it will give me more room for grain and will be locked down solid on the trailer.

It is taking me time to get the shed done but by myself I am needing to pace myself so I don't get too beat up by the effort. The puzzle that is the refurbishing is fun but damn is my back sore. I managed to get the shed level in all 4 directions now but still need to deal with the end walls. The shed must be as old as the original house which is 98 years old now so I am pretty amazed the shed has lasted as long as it has.
