It’s about time that we rebuild with Canadian brands, become more self sufficient as a country, bring new industries in, build a stronger economy, create jobs, keep wealth within our country. Lessened trade with the US would actually force GDP growth if these things played out. In turn making us an even better trade partner, except to the whole world. Would actually be a W on a longer time horizon.
Markets always correct and corporations always find their way to the consumer. If a product is 25% more, people won’t buy it or we’ll make it in Canada and opt for the Canadian brand. Tariff em right back and drop our income taxes (which are stupidly high), play the game.
We have resources, and we will use them.
There will always be problems- with good leadership (which we don’t have ATM, but we will have it, because these situations bring real leaders to the table) and a strong and industrious society they will always get solved. New problems arrive, shift the focus and sort em out.
It’s all about perspective.

I tend to give the benefit of the doubt for newcomers- a cycle for the newbies and see if they stick around.
I’d assume ‘price go up’ is why most people show up, culture and the facts you mentioned may take time to get engrained in people’s heads. If they stick around I’d say it’s a good indicator if they’ve got it or not.
If you’re someone who’s been in the space for multiple cycles that’s fixated on price, and you have an audience, you’re just chasing the low hanging fruit IMO
