The probability of a random civilization anywhere in the universe becoming intergalactic is astronomically lower than the probability of that same civilization being wiped out by a cosmic event like an asteroid hit. I’ve been thinking about this and I believe the reason we’ve never been contacted by any alien civilization, and never will be, is because intelligent life tends to vanish long before it ever gets the chance to reach out. It’s the default outcome. Survival to the interstellar stage is impossible. This Milky Way’s little planet called Earth will have the same fate. We might colonize Mars and become interplanetary but we will never become intergalactic. We’ll be gone long before that taken out by a similar cosmic event that erased many others before us.

It’s not related to your private key. NWC is a protocol for connecting wallets and apps. So if you go into your Primal wallet settings you will see a way to create a connection, which lets you share the wallet with Damus and other clients. You can even set a budget so it only has access to a portion of your balance. Then you can copy and paste the wallet connection string over to your Damus wallet settings page and you’ll be using one wallet for two clients.

If you already use Primal you can add your wallet to Damus using an NWC connection.

The OP_RETURN change doesn’t matter to me in and of itself. Removing configurability for node operators and the arguments put forward to justify that removal seem more problematic to me.

Why I'm for loosening the OP_RETURN limits ⏎

- In practice, OP_RETURN is already unconstrained: see Carman's OP_RETURN bot or Portland's Slipstream.

- Encoding arbitrary data via OP_RETURN is far more responsible than doing so in witness data, as it's 4x more costly.

- OP_RETURNs are prunable and do not pollute the UTXO set, making them vastly preferable to faux outputs that burden every node indefinitely.

- Mining non-standard transactions that bypass mempools undermines decentralized transaction propagation, disrupts fee estimation, and increases block propagation latency (especially when compact block construction fails due to missing transactions).

- This latency disproportionately impacts smaller miners and encourages direct submission to large, well-connected players, widening the profitability gap and increasing centralization.

- Layer 2 protocols are especially sensitive to fee miscalculations, making transparent and measurable fee behavior essential to their reliability.

While I share the distaste many have expressed toward tokens, inscriptions, and BitVM (when used as a casino), I care deeply about minimizing harm to bitcoin’s base layer. Allowing larger, standardized OP_RETURNs is a pragmatic step in that direction.
