I live on 14.5 acres in Amish country in Ohio. I have raised chickens, turkeys, ducks, rabbits & sheep. I’ve planted cherries, hazelnuts, peaches, mulberries, paw paws, apples, pears & nectarines. I garden (badly) but I am learning more every year. I work remotely for a bank as a mortgage underwriter- fingers crossed I am still doing that when you read this. I hunt on my land - have gotten 5 deer since I moved out here. Into everything homesteading.

Morning Nostriches

14 degrees is made to be so much worse with just a very slight wind. I didn’t last long outside today.

Got the ugliest loan I. The bank on my desk today. Non-agency, 36 businesses, one rental, >$2 million loan & some appraisal shenanigans.

Needs me coffee.

Shut up! That’s 50% of the enjoyment of cider

Hey Dan, you starting off with some warm cider?

Thanks Bird. Luckily I remembered that when I was out there & it really started me off on a great note. Sometimes things just blend in & you miss the beauty. Today I did not!

Getting there. Coffee helped. Logged in and found a new loan waiting on me so there will be brain usage - that’s always a good thing

Hey Jay - how’s it going?

Morning Bit - have an awesome day!

Mid-week check-in—anyone else feeling that overwhelmed feeling creeping in?

For me, it usually hits on Mondays, but honestly, it can happen any day when there’s a lot on my plate. Work, kids’ schedules, a million things to do… and I start thinking I won’t get it all done. But then? I always do. So why do I still feel like this?

I think a lot of us deal with this kind of anxiety for different reasons.

1. How you grew up. Were you raised in an environment where everything had to be done now? Did that urgency create stress or make you feel like you always had to be on top of things?

I’ve always been the type who wants to finish tasks right away so I don’t have to worry about them later. And I’m still like that. But I have to remind myself that it’s okay if I don’t finish something the exact day I planned—I do have time.

For example, as a social media manager, I always get my clients’ content to them way ahead of schedule. But in my head, I have my own internal deadlines and a set order for who I work on first. And every week, I stress about it… until I remind myself, I got this. I always do. So why am I stressing?

2. Past experiences. Sometimes something from your past—whether it’s a specific event, pressure from a past job, or just life in general—wires you to feel this way.

3. The fear of falling behind. When there’s always more to do, it can feel like if you don’t stay ahead, you’ll never catch up. Even when you’re on top of things, that little voice in your head tells you you’re not.

Does this happen to you? What do you think causes it? Let’s talk. ⬇️
