To be fair you can easily find someone on #Twitter. We can’t say the same about finding someone on #Nostr.

It was more functional at launch than it is today.
It is easier and quicker to use the main chain if w/d from cash app.
The community looks to the app and the company as a representation for what the future could potentially look like when bitcoin is used for payments.

I’m only calling this out because I care. It’s truly out of love. 
It seems concerning that an organization like CashApp can’t manage to have a functional #lightning implementation. They certainly can do better but maybe it also says a lot about the complexity of the protocol.

Right, but you were referring of building an identity layer on #Bitcoin layer 2 or 3. What mechanism do you envision for this? My point was that zero-knowledge proof alone isn’t an identity solution. You still need a method for ID/personhood verification.

The tokenomics of #WLD are bad. I wouldn’t expect to make money by holding them. For PoP blockchains, have a look at #Idena.io. It’s a fully decentralized #ProofofPersonhood blockchain based on puzzles that need to be solved by all participants at the same time. For biometrics PoP, I prefer #Humanode to #Worldcoin
Zero-knowledge proof is no magic bullet though. There is a lot of room for your personal identifiers to leak. Look at the data collected by the #Worldcoin app that users are required to use to verify their identity with an orb.

The launch of the #Worldcoin #crypto caught #Vitalik’s eye (no pun intended) who wrote an in-depth article about the pros and cons of this #ProofOfPersonhood protocol. For many reasons, I’m not a fan of Worldcoin but I think that Proof-of-Personhood protocols have the potential to be a tool that can bring profound and positive societal changes for the #plebs. That said there are a few characteristics these protocols should fulfill to not turn into enablers of dystopian systems. One of them is to allow individuals to ditch their #DigitalID for new ones (although they must be prevented from maintaining several valid IDs). Also, newly generated IDs must not be linkable to previous generated IDs. #Idena is one PoP #blockchain that seems to meet these criteria. We knew a while ago that the reason #ElonMusk acquired #Twitter wasn’t to save free speech but to transform it into the #X « everything app » (western #WeChat). That said, I am like many surprised that Musk is actually rebranding Twitter to X. It’s almost like he plays with an open hand. He can do so because the players at the table are blindfolded.

Obviously I see how it could be an issue if it’s not permisionless but in general I don’t see a problem with the systems that rely on #crypto economics to make it viable for participants to maintain (as long as all participants play by the same rules). I really don’t get the anti-innovation bent in the #Bitcoin maxi mindset. Without an innovative mind, Bitcoin would have never seen the light of the day.

Is there any non-#PoW #blockchain that doesn’t require a trusted setup to bootstrap a node on the network?
As far as I understand blockchains like #Avalanche or #Ethereum maintain a list of trusted nodes to sync with when bootstrapping a new node.
