Putting the sauce in awesome

Last night was wild.

I woke up at 4AM, looked at my smartwatch, and realized my heart rate was at 85 BPM.

Looked at my data this morning and saw I was averaging 71 BPM.

The good news is, I managed 2 hours of deep sleep with no apneas.

I really pushed myself to the limit last night. I did high intensity workouts from 7PM-11PM, and was at my VO2 max for at least 30 minutes. When I finished, my heart hovered around 100 BPM for several hours. And yeah, I had a hard time getting sleep, but eventually I did.

The good news is I got the strength and stamina to pull all this off. But I ain’t doing anything like this for a long, long time.

Here’s what happens when you do hard and intense workouts for four hours straight:

It’s 2AM, and my heart rate is at 97 BPM. My body is tired but not sleepy tired. My legs hurt, but they’re restless. I’ve been constantly thirsty.

I’ll probably regret this mod tomorrow.

Can’t believe I just lasted four hours.

I wasn’t doing light things. I ran for 36 minutes. I cycled for 40 minutes. Then I bench pressed 225lbs for three sets of seven reps.

I did a lot more than that, and it was intense. Towards the end, my heart hit 172 BPM.

If my body were a car, it would be a 1987 Buick Grand National.

It doesn’t look like much, but there’s power under that hood.

Just spent four hours in the gym.

I don’t typically do this. But I was dealing with stuff and this was the only way to get rid of that excess energy.

Ideologues frame politics by “capitalism vs. socialism”.

But in my experience, it’s authoritarianism vs non-authoritarianism.

The only difference between Trump and Xi is ideological cover.

I got DeepSeek to critique Marxist-Leninism, then it suddenly deleted everything—and said the subject was outside its scope.

And this was right after it pitched me on the benefits of centralization by the Chinese Communist Party. 😂

The reason I’m merely a Ricardian Socialist, and not a Marxist-Leninist, is that I’m skeptical about centralization.

In my experience, centralization leads to authoritarianism.

Here’s how Trump legally becomes President for a 3rd term:

1. Run as Vice-President for the 2028 election

2. The elected President resigns the day after taking office

3. Trump then assumes role of President

This doesn’t violate the 22nd amendment because Trump wasn’t elected as President.

The trap that liberalism fell into was the belief that institutions give people power when, in fact, it’s people who give institutions power.

Yeah, I don’t think Facebook will ever truly return to its OG roots of being youth-oriented.

Zuckerberg has chased too many trends and erased what made the original Facebook so special: friends and family.

I look on my wife’s Facebook feed, and little is from people she knows.

This pizza has clearly seen better days.

Man, I was going to write a long effort post but then I got sidetracked at the bar as everyone wanted to talk about recent events.

I’m going to talk about this in more detail later but:

Despite the fact I have little personal investment in being a man, other people—often total strangers—seem to have a whole lot of investment in me being a man.

Every time I go, “Okay, I’m going to step away and hang out here in a corner by myself,” a whole lot of people—and not just dudes—seem to walk over to my corner to check on what I’m doing.

#Threads now has 320M MAUs, and 100M daily actives.

#Twitter clearly has competition on its hands.

I have mixed feelings about this, but at least Threads is more open than Twitter is.

For Lunar New Year, my wife has me watching Michelle Yeoh movies from the ‘90s.

I’m not complaining.

Both my wife and daughter think men are more cat-like than women are—both in terms of physical appearance and mannerisms.

Wow! The Nvidia RTX 3080 just got a terrible review by Linus Tech Tips.

Man, I’m so glad I still have my 30X0 cards!

WHOA! 😮

Whether intended or not, #surf is actually running a #PICO8 video game demo in app!

So two big questions:

1. If clients are now integrating #RSS with the #SocialWeb, when are they going to start integrating #email and #InstantMessages too?

2. At what point do these clients stop being clients and start being #webfeed browsers?
