Father of 6, off-grid, writer, BJJ acolyte. Determined to live an unhurried life.

You beat me to thus post. Analysis of 3rd order and beyond effects has diminishing marginal returns.

Hey, I'm Jordan. I published a free fiction book on #nostr called Guidestone! It's a Bitcoin parable—the first of many in the Pleb Tales series. I'll link the original post here (https://primal.net/e/note1dg7uu7wkga3vkeeffkrp33e2wlv96x8ps0pm4stqaa8lnwkkzursqn6vtn , follow the comments to read the story, like a thread). It's also in my nostr read but the images are only available on Primal in a browser if you want to read it there. I'm also working on a novel version and screenplay that should come out this year.

I just got my first paperbacks, and even though #nip-15 was too hard for me to figure out 😆, I want to sell my book here until I can get a nostr store up and running! Send a message if you want one (or a few). $15usd if you are in the US! Just send me a message with the shipping address and zap this post. I'll send tracking the next day. I'm hoping to make my first few sales today!

Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind. Ecc 4:6

A better civilization is built bottom up, not top down. We have #bitcoin to guide us now; hone your craft and stack sats.

I and my oldest are stuck in ice traffic on a TN highway! 😬 One hour down... who knows how many to go. Thankful for some extra time with him.

Im working on a novel but also write short bitcoin parables called Pleb Tales. I'll link the original note. I'd be honored if you would read it! Thank you so much.

Solomon, Moses, and Melchizedek were worshipping, and an enchanting beast was underneath the throne, and its mouth was an abyss. A cunning angel worshiped near the three prophets and said to them, "Any who can satisfy the Beast at the Lord's feet will be blessed forever."

The three prophets spoke among themselves and asked the angel, "What is the beast's name?"

And the angel answered them, "She is called ‘Desire’."

Solomon went before the Beast and it spoke and said, "I can only be satisfied by great treasure." Solomon was a man of great riches, so he cast all his vast empire into the mouth of the Beast, but it was not filled. The Beast said, "What a marvelous offering! There are many great treasures, but something else is needed. You are blessed, but you shall go away empty-handed." Solomon was impoverished but rejoiced.

Moses went before the Beast, and the Beast spoke and said, "Do you have great treasure?" Moses was a mighty prophet, so he struck the earth with his staff and made a river of gold flow into the mouth of the Beast for eternity, but it was not filled. The Beast spoke and said, "Moses, you are cursed to gaze until this river fills my belly." And Moses was cursed to gaze upon the abyss that could not be filled until the end of the age.

Melchizedek went before the Beast, and the Beast spoke and said, "No matter what I eat, I am not satisfied." Melchizedek said, "I see that if a man gives all he has, you are not satisfied. I see that if a man gives you treasures without meaning, it is the same as offering dust and you will curse him. Thus, I will give you a portion of a treasure that has great worth." Melchizedek had two jewels called Urim and Thummim. He gave the black stone to the Beast, and the Beast didn't desire to eat Urim without Thummim. She did not consume the jewel but gazed upon it and desired its pair. The Beast spoke and said, "Give me the other stone." Melchizedek replied, "If I give you the other, you will consume both and we will have nothing between us. Let us make a covenant; If you will not bless me or curse me, but let me live in peace, I will give you Thummim at the end of time." The Beast agreed to Melchizedek's request and fashioned Urim into an amulet, and that amulet became the only possession of the Beast called Desire. Thus, Melchizedek subdued Desire by teaching her that satisfaction is not in consumption, stockpiling, or might. Satisfaction is found in treasure shared between two souls.

How much money is too much money? Does #bitcoin mitigate the curse that wealth can become?

I was just chatting with a guy on nostr about how carpentry and jujitsu are the only things that keep me on traditional social media. Love to see carpentry here! Post more.

Don't let "entrepreneurs" gaslight you into thinking that keeping up with inflation is an earning problem. Stack sats and hodl. #bitcoin

Some thoughts on the complementary benefits of Tai Chi practice with Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 🤔

Full disclosure I’ve done Tai Chi for around 20 years but BJJ for only around 1 year.

However the effects on my body and mental state have been fascinating since beginning BJJ and I now believe these practices are complementary rather than antagonistic. Let me explain.

Tai Chi trains the human body in a particular way to develop power, skill and health. The Yang style in particular utilises the Yi Jin Jing (易筋經) which is an old method for transforming the body.

Yi Jin Jing translates as ‘sinew changing classic’ and focuses on building ‘Qi’ to then in turn build incredibly strong muscle, fascia and tendons. It deeply connects the body through the fascia and develops ‘Jin lu’ or lines of power. I realise that’s a slightly esoteric explanation however bare with me.

BJJ is more about the efficient use of leverage, angles and position when grappling on the ground. It builds an incredibly fit and robust body and a calm and calculating mental state which is forged under pressure through constant sparring and testing.

My experience so far is that the Tai Chi body that I had developed was immediately useable in BJJ giving me a slight edge in terms of strength and robustness particularly against larger opponents and positions such as the mount or side control.

However the greater technique of my more experienced training partners while rolling will often eventually win out and cause me to tap to the submission.

I also quickly realised that I lacked cardiovascular fitness and my lower back was not as strong as I thought it was . I pulled a muscle within the first month and it took a few weeks to heal .

My back now feels much stronger and my flexibility and manoeuvrability on the ground are much improved. It’s BJJ practice that must take credit for that.

A concern I had was that due to the fact that both arts use different methods to generate power would my Tai Chi get worse as I started to build power for jiu jitsu?

There is an endless debate between ‘internal’ methods and ‘external’ methods that some of you may be familiar with.

However it seems there is no problem. In fact my tai chi form practice feels more connected since doing BJJ regularly. It feels like there is more ‘juice’ available and my body feels ‘fuller’. Time will tell.

And the real test will come with regular bouts from standing where Tai Chi is naturally more at home.

Looking forward to 2025 and seeing what training in these two great arts will bring. 🙏

Very thought provoking! I'm coming up on blue and have been counting down the days hoping to see bjj content on nostr. Bjj and carpentry are the only things keeping me connected to traditional social media.

It basically took me a decade to find carpentry. I also do a little freelance writing. I've got a free book on my nostr reads too if you like to read.

#bitcoin has helped me to understand that I'm not an entrepreneur. I have tried for so long to start businesses but only because I saw business ownership as the only path to escape fiat economic gravity. There is a very good chance that building a business during this economic phase shift is like building on shifting ground and even people that are successful often have to compromise their values, health, family, or spiritual life. Now that my stack is snowballing, I'd much rather make a good wage doing technical skill work and just stack sats. I've got five young kids and a marriage that I need to focus on in this early season of life. Bitcoin has freed me to enjoy my work and family in a balanced way. Thank God for entrepreneurs and thank God for bitcoin.

I am beginning to feel like citing a study is more likely to prove that your claim is wrong. You can find a study to validate anything you want. It's a sad reflection on the state of fiat science.
