Here's Rucknium's latest article about the infamous #monero 18-block reorg: What happened, why it matters, and what it has to do with the annoying 10 block lock.
If I could understand the whole thing enough to be able to do the diagrams, you can do it as well!
But seriously, give it a read. It's important if you care about (and want to understand) Monero's inner workings and quirks better:
My talk from #MoneroKon is live!
If you watch it, please share with me that thing you did to be the Monero fork on somebody else's journey, or what was the thing that someone else did to bring you here: https://youtu.be/SMMIQ9nIKU8
πππ. Brilliant piece. Has an option to listen to it instead of reading for the lazy ones. Recommended.

I guess in some extreme cases they are a useful last resort, but they've been abused like everything else. We simply don't know enough to be messing with the brain like we are.

I've been using gupax.io for a week now, it really is easy and every hash makes
#monero a tiny bit harder to mess with.
Interesting how we went from getting lambos to avoid starvation as crypto marketing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0bmJlrhRg4

Coolest visualization website I've seen this week:
Nowadays, soulseek for music and torrents from verified YTS, 1337x, RARBG for movies, EZTV for series.
You can also use a Spotify ripper for playlists, and YouTube downloaders for your favorite live sets or clips.
There's a search extension in qbittorrent as well.
I forced myself during the last 5 or so years to only buy those vinyls I'd like my ghost to suggest to my grandkids once I'm dead.
If you haven't already, pirate the shit out of your favorite films and music. There's a chance you might not be able to access it in the future.
I like Frank's thesis of a privacy coin renaissance. I don't think #zcash will thrive on it compared to #monero, it's easier to get better at UX than to mutate from a Electric Coin security into a decentralized digital commodity.
If we look at history I don't think it's only because it was first than BTC keeps being bigger in stores value than ETH.
I agree. But if stablecoins on surveilled chains are on one side of the trade, they'll be traded below "clean" coins price. That's what I meant when I said it'd be worse. But I have my hopes up, we'll find a way.
Didn't say it was going to impossible, just harder.
I agree. But it'll also make on and off ramps way scarce and dangerous for the common folk.
Fdroid version, used to have nifty installed and set up but I don't remember it working at all. Ended up uninstalling.
I stumbled upon a surprisingly fresh take on privacy by James Hoffman (the British coffee guy) on this interview: https://youtu.be/72yeeuFjtSk&t=775
They way I understood it, keeping some of your endeavors to yourself kinda ensures that the reason you're doing them is truly yours, and not another seek for external validation. I've tried it myself and I consider it a very effective hack.
Yes please. I don't know why but notifications have never worked for me.
How does the KYC free works if one of the participants is using fiat? Only f2f?

I managed to verstehen they're talking about meine vorstellung at min 30' but I need zwei more jahre auf klassen fΓΌr verstehen if they liked it or nein.
Exactly. For those who want proof of that process look no further than the past decades of USD bottom-up adoption in Argentina and what it meant for the ARS.
Heads up Xenumonero's 's recap of the last day of #MoneroKon is out:
https://youtu.be/n2B6KT1fbBA?si=0rOc3dX6gQ3mgc0P
I encourage people that speak other languages to do the same, it'd make the topics way more accessible to the rest of the world, increasing the chances of someone finding #monero.
Ideally one video per topic, so for example someone searching for 3D printed guns will find your greek-spoken recap of Joseph The Parrot's kon talk and be one step away from #monero itself.
Once the talks are out I'll do the same myself in EspaΓ±ol probably at nostr:npub1xkr0rzgcylzlftfgqmlh084kuhc6arcf2dfvu07uxzgpxt2c4dksz5qu9m , so I do what I preach. Don't be shy. You can make it audio only. You can even make it text-only or voiced by an AI. But do it. Nowadays there are less and less excuses.
I kind of don't believe in free will, life feels like a movie that became self aware.
Like those closed loop time travel movies when you were supposed to do what you ended up doing and causing the outcome you intended to avoid.
Testing nostr:npub1whtn0s68y3cs98zysa4nxrfzss5g5snhndv35tk5m2sudsr7ltms48r3ec but I cannot start any chats using this nsec and messaging someone, I mean the caht starts on my end but the other person doesn't get anything.
I guess I'll have to learn about zapstore then...
