He wants to receive zaps, but he immediately wants to send zaps, too. I think if we create a wallet, but don't put his nsec in, it won't generate a lightning address he can put in on Damus. Maybe I'm wrong on this?

I've still got the cashu.me window open. I'll try a refresh to see if it helps. I do wonder if he'll need to be validated before this works.

Okay. On Cashu.me, when I try to enable his wallet with the nsec, I get an error popup that says "NDKuser not initialized".

What’s his npub? I’ve seen issues in the past which I assume are due to new users not being recognized yet.

Try using the default (random) Lightning address first. Maybe after some time, he can try entering nsec again, although it’s not recommended and not mandatory to receive zaps.

Thanks so much for your input. You're right on him being able to publish and post without a wallet address having to be entered. So he's gotten that far.

He is a Bitcoiner (runs a lightning node). We just need to find him a wallet compatible with Nostr Wallet Connect. It looks like Damus doesn't auto-create a wallet like primal does. You connect Damus with Alby (which you have to pay for or register on a waiting list 7000+ deep) or link up another NWC compatible wallet like Wallet of Satoshi (which isn't available in the U.S. or in the Apple Store).

My Android initiation on Primal was easier, and I didn't have to download the app through Google.

Try Cashu.me — go to settings, enable Lightning address, and use the address that ends with “npub.cash”. That’s the 1st step for receiving.

Once you’ve added the Lightning address to your profile, let me know and I will send a test zap. After you get the notification that you’ve been zapped, open your Cashu.me wallet and you should receive a popup to redeem the sats after a few seconds.

Primal doesn’t allow other wallet connections right now. Best to use another client for zaps if you don’t want your personal info associated with you npub.

same problem .. I have zaps working well in Primal with Primal wallet ..but when I try to zap in Amethyst, it takes me to wallet apps - cash app or Zeus .. not a big issue for me but still curious as to why Primal wallet doesn't work in Amethyst

Primal wallet is exclusive to #Primal. Since you’re both using #Amethyst. Check out nostr:npub1kvaln6tm0re4d99q9e4ma788wpvnw0jzkz595cljtfgwhldd75xsj9tkzv. Nostr Wallet Connect (NWC) was recently added so you can zap (and receive) with it.

Cashu.me works pretty similar to Mutiny (the app has to be open in order for the zap to occur). Unfortunately, it only does one zap at a time as far as I can tell.
