How should I explain to him that it is not a bitcoin protocol, it’s a protocol that integrates bitcoin?

You raise a good point. But there are plenty solid use cases for a client dedicated specifically to onboarding. Being the simpler choice than improving the onboarding flow of “any” (or a library for “every”) other social client… I think I’d prefer to work on this. (And what if my preferred client is a native app… can’t send a link follow me on that, without it already being installed)

The question then, is really… what could an onboarding client look like?

I think, maybe your concern could be addressed simply by having the onboarding client open a DM thread between the existing user and the new friend.

Then “meet me on nostr” flow for new friends would simply be :

- scan QR code

- chat with user and customize your profile on the web client.

- user helps with the rest. (maybe include onboarding tutorials and use full links for the user)

I’m an experienced UX dev (20 yrs) relatively new to nostr (a few months). I came to build a client for libertarians, but this is not gonna pay for a while. I have been thinking about a dedicated onboarding app for this whole time, so maybe this could be a side project for a few sats to keep me from finding yet another “not nostr” gig.

A Company is anchored in the State and may be called upon at any time to "comply" by acting as a branch of the State (giving up user details, banning certain users/customers/transactions, etc etc).

"Bitcoin companies" and Bitcoin can't both survive. If Bitcoin keeps growing, we enter the criminalization phase next. Bitcoin companies will comply with the State or be shut down.

"Nostr companies" and Nostr can't both survive either. If nostr becomes large enough, any "nostr company" will comply with the State or be shut down.

The biggest lie that Governments like to propagate is that humans can't spread risk and collaborate without registering a Company (or Security) of some kind. We've been collaborating and distributing risk longer than we've been human, there are indeed ways of doing this without the government stepping in to mediate our relationships.

I’m ashamed to admit that I have only used NOSTR for the “social network” function.

I tried highlighter, but didn’t understand what problem it solved or what it’s use case was. The fault is mine I suspect.

I also tried a music app, I forget which one, but I didn’t quite understand what I was supposed to be doing.

Sincerely, if I were to try one “other stuff” tomorrow, what should it be?
