Please welcome Spring - the nostr browser.

This is the first public Android release, we're submitting to the Play Store, but an APK is ready for you to try: https://github.com/nostrband/nostr-universe/releases/download/v0.1.0/spring-nostr-browser-v0.1.0.apk

The app is open source: https://github.com/nostrband/nostr-universe/

We believe this category of a Nostr-specific browser is a very powerful tool for all the nostriches and bitcoiners. It takes the experience of using Nostr micro-apps to the next level, and should help accelerate the adoption of non-social Nostr use cases.

Some screenshots are here:

nostr:nevent1qqsdf8x6p2uzd7kwkgndzjnga2gt3las58l0y56l7rd2w3lmy3944ecprfmhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuam9d3kx7unyv4ezumn9wshsqpwmr4

If you hesitate to paste your nsec into the app, we totally get it - just use your (or someone else's) npub to log in and look around. However, if you do add your real keys - those are handled by a separate library, stored in an encrypted form and protected by the Android keystore, inaccessible to any JS code, immune to XSS or app-level bugs.

What you can do today:

- add nsec keys or npubs, switch between keys

- browse various interesting events on the homepage - trending stuff, suggested profiles, big zaps, highlights, long posts, live streams, nostr web apps

- open any event in any web app that supports this event kind and has been published on nostr using NIP-89

- open/close/hide the browser tabs, grouped by app/domain

- log in inside the opened apps as if you have the 'browser extension' (nip-07 interface injected into tabs)

- pin apps/tabs to your app "drawer" for fast access

- access your contact list at the search page, profiles sorted by recently-accessed first

- search through profiles, notes and long posts

- tab menu - if there is an event-id/npub in the url of the opened tab, you can zap the event, or open with another app from the menu (more coming soon)

- context menu - if you long-tap on a link with event-id/npub in the url, you can zap/open-with from the context menu

- nostr: links clicked inside a tab are handled by showing a list of apps that support this event (NIP-89)

- long-tap on a text selection with event-id/npub to open the context menu to zap/open-with

- paste a url to the search bar to open it in a new tab

- paste an event-id/npub into the search bar to open it in a new tab

IMPORTANT: nostr apps running inside the browser tabs can sign events and decrypt private messages without a confirmation screen and your explicit permission - do not use apps you don't trust until we implement proper app permission management.

What is coming:

- key access permission management

- reordering of pins in the app drawer

- more event kinds on the homepage

- search for more event kinds

- tab switcher screen

- NWC to inject WebLN into tabs

- custom feeds on the home screen

- custom tab/context menu items

- DVMs for translation, transcription etc

- and much more!

What do you think?

Sounds interesting, thanks.

### #Amethyst v0.69.1: Ad hoc local lists removed

This version finishes the migration of the user's following lists - communities, channels, and block/mute - to the Contact List and People List kinds. To migrate, please block (just block, don't report) and unblock somebody, follow and unfollow somebody. Keep in mind, not all clients support lists like these yet. If you follow/unfollow on other clients, they might delete your community/chat/hashtag follows.

- Moves Follow Communities to the Contact List

- Moves Follow Channels to the Contact List

- Moves BlockList to Mute List (Private)

- Migrates all past local lists to their event kinds

- Views Mute Feed (i.e. disables hidden and warnings for the "mute" list)

- Breaks the Security Filters screen in 2 tabs: Blocked and Spammers

- Restructures ContactList updates to avoid removing unsupported tags

- Restructures PeopleList updates to avoid removing non-people tags

- Fixes older channels and communities not appearing on the discovery tab

- Forces each Discovery tab to display only their event kind

- BugFix for AppDefinition Event kind updates

- Adds parsing support for Nostr Name Service (NNS) Event kinds

- Moves video player to the new Exoplayer package

- Moves id hex prefixes from 6 to 8 chars

- Fixes the profile display for new users without pictures

Hi Vitor. I have added many private and public bookmarks with Amethyst since I begun to use it some weeks ago. How can we explain that when I look at my bookmarks page this morning I see no bookmark except the one I added some minutes ago...? πŸ™„

This is a thing that I'm looking for with a self-custodial, be able to use it too on desktop. nostr:npub1mutnyacc9uc4t5mmxvpprwsauj5p2qxq95v4a9j0jxl8wnkfvuyque23vg seems really interesting now ! And there is more, it can connects to #Nostr to zap users...

Meta's #Threads app was quick to attract over 100 million sign-ups within the first days of launch, but that explosive growth appears to have leveled off. After the curiosity, the reality!?? https://www.pcmag.com/news/threads-traffic-dips-after-initial-surge-in-interest

Oh... !! So using a wallet app is good for you ? I tried Phoenix on Android, but also CoinBase Wallet (also avalaible in Chromium browser extension) and Zap Wallet seems interesting too because it have a desktop app as well

It's a new world for me, there are so many choices !!

Thank you for your reply.

Is anyone here use a Ledger hardware to secure the cryptos ? I read about it. Don't seems to support Lightning Network (and they not recommend it cause it require to be connected to Internet, so LN can't be used to buy things offline).

Thanks in advance for your clarifications...

@plebstr hello to you. I like your Android client and it's UI. But it miss an important feature for me that Amethyst has. Could you add the possibility to add posts in private or public bookmarks ? Thank you.
