Why can't you block channels on YouTube anymore?

There are only options to 'hide user from my channel' and 'block channel for kids' and on your main feed you can select 'don't recommend channel '

You can't block contents you don't like anymore, and no matter what you do, it'll still be promoted to your face.

Occasional downtime is nice, getting some sun, waiting for the kids to finish their morning swim. Might go for a coffee down the corner.
