I hate likes β€οΈ on primal/nostr....
Everyone is so used to working with traditional social networks where a β€οΈ or π reaction signals the algorithm to boost the post.
But primal/nostr doesn't work like that...The default feed (aka no-algorithm) does not boost/promote anything....
So even if you can get 100 followers to like your content, none of their followers is going to see it...so it's useless?
Will check tnx!
Let me know if you have any feedback/wishlist/bugs/features you'd like to see.
On my todos:
- reply within asknostr
- qualification of questions to filter out engagement bait questions
- author profiles (top answers/top questions/topics)
- show pubkeys in a hashtag (who is the expert)
Quick way to see/update your own profile?
Dried nutsacks
Bumped onto this post and the 'as-nostr-as-possible' substack. Great reads! Please take my sats.
From your blog post I am trying to solve the slowness + crawl ability with a server/client model. I've been told (by Nostr purists) that if the app is not using outbox/relay model/OSS it's not truely Nostr.
So glad to read about the concept 'as nostr as possible' approach which is the model i've been applying prioritising user features/speed/UX over ideology. And while the eco-system gets better more parts of the app(s) can be ported to be pure Nostr.
Ton of fixes to asknostr.site
- [feature] Added paging to /browse and /tag pages
- [feature] Alerts and a loader when repost/voting of questions
- [fix] Fixed 'browse all' timing out/slow
- [fix] Fixed mobile layout on long strings (nevent/note ids not implemented)
- [fix] Coloring of success messages on dark mode
- [fix] Better display of nprofile/npub mentions that do not have a display name
- [fix] Showing the a duplicate url fragment below an image
- [fix] Remove spacing between image/video blocks
I also notice there are stability issues with fetching all notes/reactions. I need to investigate and improve the pulling/cronning
Enjoy the weekend Nostriches!

Nope i canβt. I use subscribe a lot too, but in this specific case i need fetchEvents
Pushed some improvements to the asknostr.site
- added primal to relays when posting question/voting (no outbox yet)
- fixed rendering nprofile/npub references
- more continuous fetching of answers
On the list to address:
- remove questions that are not so good (engagement bait stuff)
- fix hover on nprofiles/npubs that do not have meta events
- fix that 10k max questions on the βbrowse allβ
Good to see that the number of questions has been increasing steadily with more and more engagements in zaps/replies too :-)
Playing around with LLM summarizing and scoring the questions. I'm hoping it can help me solve 2 things:
Identify what is a real question: Some people just use #asknostr to make a statement (instead of asking a question) π€£. Using a question score allows me to filter out non-questions.
Get to the point: Some questions are long/do not get to the point. Random example https://asknostr.site/question/note1r2ap3ayd0c4y54t3f44w8c0xx4avyskm4vt08uu8rup0axvqyhzq4znhlw was summarized to "When Kelis sings that her "...milkshake brings all the boys to the yard...," is she really referring to her breasts?"
In Quora most questions are a one-liner/summary which works well for overviews, meta data, 'relevant other questions' etc...
What do you think. Is this the best area to spend my time on asknostr.site?
Probably a girl called Mad telling me to take more screenshots of moments I'd want to remember later
It's there now.
Notice the small airwave icon on the question? You can hard refresh all questions/reactions/scores there. Helps me debug

Do you have event ids? Then i can debug. Which relays r u using?
I cant zap you!
Really sleek. This can onboard millions of users. Very soon, it might be our most powerful onboarding tool.
Feedback:
ΒΆ The sorting options aren't well-sorted. "Most answers" shouldn't be first if it's an arbitrary subset of "most replies," and "most recent" definitely shouldn't be the last option.
ΒΆ I'm really impressed with how many questions actually show up in the "most recent" feed once I get there. I was hoping you'd at least be less filtered than #primal but you're even less filtered than my personal nostrudel setup - more questions show up on your site. You might have to offer some guidance on relay setup for users like me sometime.
ΒΆ My pfp is a little hecked.
ΒΆ I don't see relay settings. If this is a cached thing like nostr:npub12vkcxr0luzwp8e673v29eqjhrr7p9vqq8asav85swaepclllj09sylpugg then it should be a high priority to offer a JavaScript-free frontend, unlike Primal, as a show of good faith. Nostr has been in desperate need of a JavaScript-free, tor-accessible frontend for a long time.
ΒΆ This character is a pilcrow. Not actually feedback, or useful at all, "pilcrow" is just fun to say
Improved sorting options a bit.
Relay selection/information is on the list. Right now just using the big relays but probably will set up a relay.asknostr.site soonish too.
Will look into the profile picture. Need to update profiles to the latest kind:0 events. Still ingesting events
Ok Nostr-World. I'm ready to show what I've been working on
It's rough around the edges but allows you to browse the #asknostr content and engage.
Stuff it can do:
βSign in with browser extension/remote signer or nsec
βBrowse questions by tag
βDisplay profile info (hover)
βFilter order by zaps, reactions, recency
βVote/Upvote answers
βTry to guess best answer by score
Stuff it can't do (yet) in order of importance:
βCommenting
βAllowing 'forward' of questions by reporting with the nevent
βSearch
βBrowse by profile
Try it out. Let me know what you think https://asknostr.site/
First 10 suggestions/ideas get zaps. Important bugs reportedget more zaps :)
Did you try nostr:nprofile1qqsrgyzdaheuckfksqkgxz9r6qys72zh6j46f69hyzkv4a4j4vzfj6gprkucd orion browser yet? Its pretty good
Need to look into it. NIP51 kind 100003 events i guess. And if its not good enough weβll see where i can help
Had so much fun implementing sign-in and interactivity in #asknostr website. So easy thanks to nostr:nprofile1qyxhwumn8ghj7e3h0ghxjme0qyd8wumn8ghj7urewfsk66ty9enxjct5dfskvtnrdakj7qpql2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqta478g ndk and nostr:nprofile1qyg8wumn8ghj7efwdehhxtnvdakz7qgkwaehxw309ajkgetw9ehx7um5wghxcctwvshsqgp799xjl5eehvt22sp6sm3kvj28m4qgcnv85qrx2f8c54e6u5723czqks8l nostr-hooks and nostribe OSS code. Zaps incoming!
- Browser Extension
- Remote signer
- nsec/burner profile
Starting to look good. Still a few things to figure out and want to add commenting/bookmarks before I launch too.
