Interstellar, No Country, Gladiator
The city of San Diego lately has adopted new rules for community planning. One of the newer ones is allowing alternative planning groups to challenge the existing one. The city believes many of the old guard community planning groups aggressively oppose almost all density projects and public transit enhancements to the chagrin of many. It is argued that the old guard community planning groups membership is inclusive to land-owning elite, and off limits to the broader neighborhood population. The logic follows that renters, minorities and density-minded people, who make up a larger percentage of neighborhood population than the elite, have little to no say in how their neighborhood should grow.
I am no fan of much of what the government in San Diego does, but maybe they’re barking up the right tree with this newer policy.
I hear you. I humbly suggest watching Michio Kaku or Neil Degrasse Tyson on YouTube. They have a talent for explaining the Kardashev Scale to laypeople like me.
Essentially it’s a classification system with which to measure how powerful and technologically advanced civilizations are/ or can become.
San Diego city has a budget deficit for the next fiscal year, which I believe starts 1 July. One immediate cut they’ve made is to bus service. For example the airport bus converts to a 1/2 hour schedule after 7pm. Some weekend buses are also 1/2 hour waits now all day.
FREQUENCY is one of the pillars of having a robust transit system. People who have a choice of driving or using the bus will choose the former. No one who has a choice will want to wait 1/2 hour.
…and if the bus is late, which is common, then 1/2 hour becomes 35-40 minute frequency.

It’s all about Hollywood. That’s fine if that’s what you want. If you want attention via cosplay, that’s fine too. It’s the perfect place for it. You can even partake in the city streets all around = free.
But otherwise it’s kinda meh
Wondering that very question myself

Brutal to watch
Circa November-December the city of San Diego and the Airport Authority (I believe) tried to create an extra lane of traffic on Grape Street.
Grape Street is a major route that diverts airport car traffic to the I-5 freeway. Needless to say people drive on Grape Street at freeway speeds trying to catch all the green lights.
One huge problem with this is that Grape Street runs through Little Italy. It is a very dense neighborhood full of local and tourist foot traffic. Given the city’s goal of attaining ZERO pedestrian deaths, why would the powers that be make Grape Street more dangerous for pedestrians than it already is?
They’ll tell you that it’s necessary to move car traffic in and out of the airport quickly and efficiently. And the pedestrians? Well the pedestrians be damned!
The good news is that public outcry was enough to at least postpone the conversation of the parking lanes to active driving lanes.
I don’t trust the powers that be. What will those weasels do to counter?
You were right, the ETFs weren’t priced in
